Compared with normal navigation,ice navigation has significantly different characteristics.Recently,IMO has added additional requirements for ice navigation,which makes the research of ice navigation scene more and more imperative.According to the existing research of ice navigation scene,there are several specific problems to be dealt with.Purpose of research is to find a method that could describe ice navigation features and be used in ice region scene modeling and rendering for ice navigation simulator.The method could also consider the ice region physical properties,and meet the requirements of realistic and real-time performance for ice region scene system.The main research work is as follow:?.On the basis of DNV GL Certification Standards,the framework of ice region scene system has been designed,the sea ice model is confirmed as the core of the system,and the key issues has been explained.?.The thermodynamics factors and ship-ice interaction are considered in the sea ice physical modeling,which includes thermodynamic calculation,the theory of a semi-infinite plate resting on an elastic foundation(or with wedge-shaped beams),energy conservation and so on.The the sea ice physical model is simulated and verified for applying to the ice region scene of navigation simulator.III.For meeting requirements of realistic and real-time performance of ice navigation visual system,sea ice geometry-based modeling is also researched what is combined with sea ice physical characteristics.In 3D sea ice geometry-based modeling,Voronoi diagram modeling method and OBB bounding box collision detection method are adopted,which could simulate icebreaking process and channel frozen up visually with high immersive and real-time simulated effects.IV.For creating and managing the large number of sea ice models data,the quad-tree spatial index algorithm is applied,which could reduce the consumption of resources greatly and improve fluency of the whole visual system obviously.The algorithm is also the data foundation for the ship-ice interaction visual simulating following up in the ice navigation simulator scene system.Finally,the large-scale ice region scene visualization is implemented with the tools of OSG,3DS MAX,image processing,visual programming and so on.The simulation results of the research show the performance is vivid and satisfying,what is applied to the ice navigation simulator scene system.The research not only advance development of ice navigation scene simulation local manufacture,but also provides guidance ideas for following work.
