Study On The Protection And Inheritance Of Lingnan Garden Based On Traditional Gardening Skills

Lingnan garden,as one of the three major garden sect in China,has a long development history and unique regional cultural characteristics.Due to the lack of coherence in the Lingnan garden retention and historical documents,the destruction of nature disaster and urban development in the process of historical development,the Lingnan garden retention can not as evolutive as usual,regardless of the number,scale,protection and utilization.In recent years,on the process of Lingnan garden protection,repair and contemporary landscape construction,many problem appear like the lack of Lingnan gardening skills,hard to find good craftsmen,poor construction quality and so on.The protection and inheritance of Lingnan garden is very imminent.This paper discusses protection and inheritance of Lingnan garden from the perspective of living heritage,and clear out the history and present situation.The heritage value and the bearing factors of Lingnan garden are analyzed with the evaluation standard of the cultural heritage value system,to find out the Lingnan garden position in the China’s cultural heritage and the world’s heritage,to recognize the difficulties and challenges of protection and inheritance,clear the object and contents of protection,so as to find out the ideas and strategies suitable for Lingnan garden protection and inheritance.This paper mainly studies on protection and inhertitance of Lingnan garden from three aspects,by the methods of garden history study,oral history and cultural heritage theory.From the perspective of cultural heritage,with reference to the principle of authenticity,integrity and value standard of cultural heritage,Lingnan garden does not completely meet the world’s standard.For the heritage like Lingnan garden,the paper try to evaluate the heritage value and bearing factors.And the study focuses on the traditional gardening skills and craftsmen system protection in the view of intangible cultural heritage.From the perspective of the relationship between the subject and the object,Lingnan traditional gardening skills is a process with technical,aesthetic,organiazational and folkways depended on the subject(craftsmen).The key issue is the subject.In this study,the oral history research method is used to record the inheritance conditions of the traditional Lingnan gardening skills and the living conditions of the craftsmen,to find out the solution of the problem that the subject as the core in protection and inheritance of Lingnan traditional gardening skills,to form the data basis establishment for the ideas and countermeasures in protection and inheritance.From the perspective of living heritage,Lingnan garden is a living cultural heritage with the development of the times,to avoid static view and limited by the concerns of the object itself.The study explores protection and inheritance of Lingnan garden which is placed in the historical environment of the city and based on the practice of contemporary Lingnan garden.Based on the study results,this paper puts forward the principle recommendations of Lingnan garden.Firstly,the view of protection and inheritance should be changed from the historic,static one to the cultural diversity and dynamic one,emphasizing the living development.The key point is the protection of the traditional gardening skills and craftsmen.The study should be started as soon as possible on the Lingnan traditional gardening skills and craftsmen system,to find out the the core issues.Secondly,Lingnan garden,from authenticity and integrity,does not meet the world’s heritage standard.The establishment of value system which is suitable for its own development can get rid of regional identity and ideological constraints,Lingnan regional cultural value will be more widely spread.Thirdly,in the process of building urban regional characteristics,it should be allowed to push the contemporary garden practice in the critical area in the overall urban pattern from the perspective of continuing the urban context,and the garden practice can provide the practice chance for the promotion on the traditional gardening skills,to explore effective protection strategies in practice,and to achieve the sustainable development of Lingnan garden in the dynamic development.Finally,establish a living integrated protection view,closely linked with the protection of Lingnan garden with the continuity of urban context,urban pattern and the urban environment optimization,and closely integrated the dynamic development of Lingnan garden with contemporary urban life,to construct protection and inheritance system formed by garden body-human-environment of Lingnan garden.
