Plant parasitic nematodes represent a serious problem in agriculture around the world. The global loss per year in agricultural production due to damage generated by nematodes has been estimated as 100 billion US dollars worldwide.nematophagous fungi have the ability to reduce nematode multiplication. The endoparasitic nematophagous fungus Drechmeria coniospora gave positive results on reduced root-knot nematode. Althouth D. coniospora has been used as a model to study interactions between fungi and nematodes, the interaction mechanisms between D. coniospora and nematode are unclear. The research on the nematicides virulence factors and the regulation of functional gene in D. coniospora is little. In this study we present the morphology D. coniospora, and illustrate the information on at different stages of nematode infection using lightl micrographs and scanning electron micrograph. The genome of the nematophagous fungus Drechmeria coniospora was sequenced through a combined whole-genome shotgun approaches and assembled by optical mapping technology. A total of 8674 open reading frames were predicted from its 33.53 Mb genome which composed of 3 chromosomes.Genome comparison between D. coniospora and other selected fungal genomes was analysis using whole genomic BLAST. The factional genome of nematode infection in D. coniospora was investgated. The important genes which involved in the infection process and secondary metabolism were identified. In summary, the investigation of functional genomic research will not only reveal the functional genome of D. coniospora in interactions between fungi and nematodes, but also contribut to the development of useful nematode biocontrol agent with customized properties.
