ObjectivesAt present, acupuncture treatment in foreign countries is getting more and more attention, and the new acupuncture system,TUNG'S Acupuncture,is one of them.TUNG'S Acupuncture is easy to understand and has fewer instructions than the traditional acupuncture,so that it quickly becomes popular around the world.Although the efficacy of TUNG'S Acupuncture has been proven, and it is used in clinical aspects, but its theory has not been taken seriously.Besides,in the end how many difference between TUNG'S Acupuncture and the traditional acupuncture?Few people study that in stead of clinical research. Therefore, this paper aims to compare the similarities and differences between the TUNG'S Acupuncture and the traditional acupuncture, and focuses on the similarities and differences of the acupoints and finds out the key points in order to facilitate the improvement of TUNG'S Acupuncture's theory.MethodThis study uses the literature methodology, based on the literature survey, collecting and finding the books and related literature of TUNG'S Acupuncture, identifying and sorting out the necessary contents, finding out the information that can be compared with the traditional acupuncture theory, and compared with traditional acupuncture theory.Data comes from Wanfang data platform,China National Knowledge Infrastructure, medical encyclopedia,Chinese medicine online, the American Medical Online PubMed literature database, other related articles and TUNG'S Acupuncture books. Then the information is extracted and sorted out by table narrative method, the position, the number, the meridian, the attending, the acupuncture and moxibustion, the characteristic diagnosis method, the treatment acupoint method, the clinical treatment theory and so on are all compared to find out the correlation between TUNG'S Acupuncture and the traditional acupuncture system. Moreover, the basic theory and origin of TUNG'S Acupuncture is analyzed,so as to understand the correlation between TUNG'S Acupuncture and traditional acupuncture and to explore the possibility of combining two theories with complementarity. Thus,TUNG'S Acupuncture and traditional acupuncture in theory can be combined for the future in clinical treatment, and the two different acupuncture systems can be used better to promote the development of acupuncture.Results(1)TUNG'S Acupuncture points and the traditional meridian points are the same in the way of nomenclature,in the way of the insertion of the needles and the retaining time of the needles. However without its own meridian system,TUNG'S Acupuncture is different from the traditional points in the quantity of acupuncture points, acupoints distribution, specific points theory, the way to use chest and back points, auricular points system and reinforcing and reducing methods. Its diagnostic features is similar to the diagnosis of the "sanguan" of fingers, but the diagnosis of the palm is unique. The classification of points is similar to"Huangdi Mingtangjing".Its acupoint localization refers to Bone-length measurement, which is derived from "Lingshu·Gudu"."Holographic" thought is dominated by holographic theory."Tiyingxianqiou" is similar to that of "Huangdi Neijing · Lingshu"."Zangfu Bietong" began in "Yixuerumen·Zangfu Xiangtong"."Bingluo Theory" is based on "Huangdi Neijing"."Zenfadueyin" is derived from "Zenjinzhinan·Biaoyoufu" and""Huangdi Neijing·Suwen·Mioucilunpian".Therefore, all of the theories are related to ancient Chinese medicine, and many Chinese medicine theories are emphasized.(2)The techniques of TUNG'S Acupuncture is simpler than the traditional acupuncture techniques, but it emphasizes on "zencitiegu" and "ciluofangxie".The special technique of TUNG'S Acupuncture of acupuncture,"Dong Qi techniques" is derived from "I Ching",and"Dao Ma technique" is the extension of the "Tianxin twelve Acupoints" of Ma Dan Yang.(3)TUNG'S Acupuncture's acupoints on the same points with the traditional acupoints are mostly the same on their attending.TUNG'S Acupuncture's acupoints on the fourteen meridians,on their attending, are also associated with the fourteen meridians.Only a few are different.Besides, the attending of some acupoints are related to modern anatomy.(4)TUNG'S Acupuncture in one to ten parts has 24 acupoints on the same points with the traditional acupoints,3 acupoints on the traditional ear acupoint area,100 acupoints on the fourteen meridians(including the same acupoints),and 87 acupoints do not locate on the fourteen meridians.(5)Applying TUNG'S Acupuncture alone or with the fourteen meridians are both more effective clinically, especially dealing with pain.ConclusionThe generating of TUNG'S Acupuncture and the traditional acupuncture theory is inseparable. It implies that TUNG'S Acupuncture can not be divorced from the fourteen meridians. Its central theory is derived from the development and extension of "Huangdi Neijing".Therefore,TUNG'S Acupuncture is not groundless, and its clinical efficacy is proved. However TUNG'S Acupuncture theory is not perfect, most from the clinical experience, and later complemented by its descendants. From this,it reveals the process and the phenomenon of the development of acupuncture history and reflects that after the clinical practice, acupuncture needs theoretical support for continuous development and continuation.
