Since the study of classical Chinese stylistics resuscitated in the1980's, academic research of the issue main in two angles:macroexamination and microexamination. macroexamination include that carding classification theories of classical stylistics, analyzing the influence of sociality culture, environment, mode of thinking on classical Chinese stylistics, summarizing the characteristics of criticism method of classical Chinese stylistics. microexamination research classical Chinese stylistics from three area:time, species of style and literature. Although these research acquired a great achievement, but no one undertake specialized research of classical stylistics by study of Substance.Substance means a kind of consciousness or spirit which cause nascence of stylistics and is the substantive characteristics of stylistics. Substance consciousness is ubiquitous in stylistics and guides the practical activity of stylistics criticism. The study of Substance is conductive to change stereotype view of research of classical Chinese stylistics, reveal substantive characteristics of classical Chinese stylistics, and promote the study of classical Chinese stylistics. On basis of the target, this thesis proposed Life Substance and Jingxue Substance is the mainstay of classical Chinese stylistics by carding the developing history of classical Chinese stylistics. They are ubiquitous in the theories of classical stylistics, and guard the criticism activity.Although there are many common ground between the theories under the direction of Life Substance and Jingxue Substance, but the theories are proposed by different angle of view and different thoughts. On account of this, the study of Life Substance and Jingxue Substance in classical stylistics is separated into two parts in this thesis.First part the study of theories of Life Substance in classical Chinese stylistics:Chapter one:Firstly analyze the meaning of Wen and Ti. Secondly, concise introduce the phenomenon of the theories of vital criticism. Thirdly, summarize the results of previous research and prove no one undertake specialized research of classical stylistics by study of substance.Chapter two:Analyze the reasons of the forming of Life Substance consciousness from the area of thinking model, traditional aesthetics, traditional theories of art, and theories of traditional literary. Firstly, by the analysis of the characteristics of poetic thinking, the thesis proposes Chinese character is the key which make Chinese culture to keep her poetic thinking. Secondly, on the basis of investigation of Chinese traditional aesthetics, the thesis circumstantiate Chinese traditional aesthetics value the life's aesthetics connotation. Thirdly, by analysis of the traditional music theories, the thesis considers there is pan-living phenomenon in the theories of Chinese art. Fourthly, on the basis of analysis of classical topic from the theories of Chinese traditional literature, the thesis proposes there is a tradition of expressing for life in the theories of Chinese traditional literature.Chapter three:By the analysis of classical theories from two part:the relationship between style and individual life, the relationship between style and nature life, social life, this thesis try to explain the ubiquity and important status of Life Substance consciousness in classical Chinese stylistics. Firstly, by the explanation of the theories of Wenqi and the style is the man, the thesis illustrate that, in the opinion of Chinese traditional stylistics, the life of style come from the writers. By the analysis of the theories of landscape style, historical style, the thesis indicates how traditional stylistics value the revelation of life meaning of style. On basis of dissecting the theories of poetry can make poet to be miserable and poetry can make poet to be blissful, this thesis propose no only writer can convey their life in style, but also style can effect the formation of writers' personality.Chapter four:Taking the tendency of criticism as a key, this thesis try to prove Life Substance consciousness had a deeply influence on classical stylistics from the area of valuing Shen theories, advocating Wu theories and pursuing Xin theories. Firstly, by explanation of the theories of valuing Shen and scorning and the theories of valuing both Shen, the thesis consider although the two kinds of theories have different attitude to form, they have same attitude to Shen. Secondly, on basis of analysis of advocating Wu theories, the thesis propose that traditional critic look style as a life entity, and advocate realizing the life existence of style. Thirdly, by analyzing connotation of pursuing Xin theories, the thesis indicates traditional critic think style, like a life entity, has the character of development and change.Second part the study of theories of Jingxue Substance in classical Chinese stylistics:Chapter one:Firstly, explain the reasons of establishment of Jingxue thought. Secondly, by analysis of the theories of style come from Confucian classics, propose although style originate from witch culture and extensive influence the forming of afterworld style, but along with the establishment of monopoly position of Jingxue, as the originator of style, witch is forgotten by accident or design, the action of Confucian classics is enlarged, which lead to generation of the theories of style come from Confucian classics. Thirdly, on basis of dissecting the two kinds explanation of the theories of style come from Confucian classics by Jingxue critics, the thesis illustrate how the theories of style come from Confucian classics holds a authority position in traditional stylistics.Chapter two:Taking the function theories as a key, this thesis tries to explain the ubiquity and important status of Jingxue Substance consciousness in classical stylistics. Firstly, from the area of Mingdao theories, the thesis reveal that Jingxue Substance consciousness cause Mingdao theories. Secondly, the thesis proposes Jingxue Substance consciousness lead to the generation of Meici theories. Thirdly, by analysis of meaning of Jiaoh.ua theories, the thesis considers the theories are also the result of criticism under the guidance of Jingxue Substance consciousness.Chapter three:Taking the tendency of criticism as a key, this thesis try to prove Jingxue Substance consciousness had a deeply influence on classical stylistics. Firstly, from the area of Zungu theories, taking the theories of valued style and menial style and the theories of restoration as example, the thesis illustrates Zungu theories is product of Jingxue Substance consciousness. Secondly, through dissecting the meaning of the word ya, the thesis proposes there are two tendencies of valuing formal style and depreciating informal style, valuing elegant style and depreciating inelegant style. By analysis of the meaning of Jian, the thesis considers there are two tendencies in Shangjian theories: advocating contracted style, advocating concise style.
