Wujiang Ye Family lived in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Many members of this family, such as the couple of Ye Shaoyuan and Shen Yixiu and their children Ye Xiaoluan and Ye Xie,were of outstanding talent and made considerable achievements in poetry and literature.Midday Dreaming Buildings is the collection of their literary pieces, which has been wildly renowned and highly praised as soon as it was printed. And along with the rising academic enthusiasm on Feminist Literature and Family Literature in recent decades, many researches focused on Wujiang Ye Family. But few discussed the aesthetic implication in different kinds of Ye Family's literary forms from the perspective of the relationship between the family life and literary form.My dissertation will mainly explore the aspect of literary form written by Wujiang Ye Family,as well as the Chinese verse and prose history embodied in the literati life. The topic of Chapter 1 is the association between the Leisure life of Wujiang Ye Family and their choice on literary form.Through the description of the dwelling environment, their collection of books, reading experience and several tours,we can grasp their agreeable and harmony mood. Therefore, the subject of their poems and literature is to savor the words and show off their talents. For instance, boys wrote Fu to express their yearning of immortal life on high mountains.Girls tended to choose the literary form full of techniques to convey their feelings, such as catenane, plalindrome etc.And Ye Xaoluan and Shen Yixiu selected body as their writing object, which was a kind of literary form called Lian Zhu,reflecting their appreciation for feminine beauty and their ability in using allusions.Chapter 2 analyzes Ye Family's living attitude and philosophy through their literary form.At first,we probe into the real living conditions of Ye Family and the reasons of their poverty.By interpreting their poems on this theme,we can comprehend their attitude toward poverty.Furthermore, through deeply analyzing their living philosophy,we can find their admiration for the ancient sages and ambition to be immortal by their writings. The article Yi Song Zhu Ren Zhuan written by Ye Shaoyuan, described the recluse's life which reflected his indifferent attitude about life.Chapter 3 analyzes the relationship between the Ye Family's experiences in illness and death and literary form, discusses its medical history and symptoms appeared on the earlier dead members of Ye Family, and tries to find the internal and external causes for the continuous pains from illness. When the members died,Ye Family and their friends wrote a lot of poems and articles to express their sadness. These memorial works mainly deal with biographies of the death.Unavoidably, the author added his or her imaginations into the works and learned more about the dead based on the narration. For example,Ye Shaoyuan wrote Biography of My Wife Shen in Heaven and A Hundred Day Memory for Mrs Shen.By writing these articles,he realized much more about his wife's patience and chagrin.Again and again, the aristocratic young ladies at the South of Yangtse River expressed their sympathy for Ye Wanwan's Melancholy and firmly believed that she had been Immortal when they Mourned for Ye wanwan and Ye xiaoluan. When mourning the earlier dead males, such as Ye shichen,Ye Shirong, the Ye Family showed their mourning souls for the dead's mishaps, which made them have no chance to attain their ambitions. In addition, the Family also tried their best to describe the symptoms for their early death.Chapter 4 discusses the Ye Family's religion, believes and literary form. For suffering from illness and other disasters and its members died from time to time, the Ye Family firmly believes the mysterious things in the world. For them, dream was the prophet's incarnation and the linkage between this world and the afterworld.Ye Family believed in Buddhism. The earlier dead's last writings showed that they yearned for Buddhist kingdom. The existing materials reveal that Ye Family had close contact with Fen Lake Temple.Records Inscribed on Stone Tablets about West Hut describes the reconstruction process of West Hut,which lists the assets at the end of the epitaph. The literary sketchbooks, like Qionghuajing,Qiewen,Xuqiewen, reveal the whole process of some of divining activities in Ye Family. In this regard,Jin sheng tan, also called master le,who ever divined in Ye Family's yard, played an important role for Ye Family's belief in the Buddhism.Chapter 5 introduces the seclusion life of Ye Family and their writings. After 1644,Ye shaoyuan and his descendants lived a reclusive life at simple temples in the mountain.During this time,Ye shaoyuan shared loyalty with the adherents of Ming Dynasty. He also contacted with soldiers against Qing Dynasty.Under this situation,Ye shaoyuan wrote a series of history works to show his loyalty toward Ming Dynasty. In his works,Hu yin wai shi is a book about local history around Fen Lake.In this book,he used detailed materials and graceful terms to write down some wars and soldiers which were against Qing Dynasty. From his historical works,we can find some characteristics of his writings, such as he appreciated grotesque things, focus on the story of talented girls and their talents, skills and literary fame.He also left empty in this works which is thought-provoking for us.Qi zhen jil wen lu is a valuable book for history research, providing news and conventions about Suzhou between the end of Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, which is assumed to Ye Shaoyuan. But in fact, there are several different books in it,which belongs to different writers as well. But the historical items in the book is just like Ye Shaoyuan, historical works,so people easily take it as Ye Shaoyuan's work.
