With a specific oral group as the narrator, based on multiple social memories and adopting multiple inner-focusing method of retrospective narration, the oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" has restored the "Chang'an Painting School" with multi-dimensional and real artists. From this perspective, the oral history of "Chang'an Painting School"覧"Grand Narrative" based on various micro-narrative覧is a history composed of polyphony. Besides providing detailed historical materials and absent key links in document literature, the narrators can also add reasonable and well-founded analysis. Therefore, the oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" also is a history of research into "Chang'an Painting School". Through the narrators' retrospect and introspect, the oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" reflects the cultural mentality, values, emotional orientation, art ideology and artistic pursuit of the contemporary interpretation of "Chang'an Painting School". Therefore, the oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" is also a contemporary art history.On the study of the "Chang'an Painting School" oral group, we discovered that the narrators覧with the "Chang'an Painting School" as the epicenter覧are made up of blood relationships and teacher-student relationships. This group is the witness and successor of the events and characters of "Chang'an Painting School".Based on the discussion of oral content, we can see two sides:on the one hand, through the historical background, life details, traits of character, story narration, the oral history presents the "Chang'an Painting School" in the historical and cultural context; on the other hand, along with reconstructing historical events and exploring narrators' current spiritual world, oral history also depicts the "Chang'an Painting School" in the emotional and spiritual context through the experiences, memories, beliefs, thoughts, intentions, etc. of the narrator. By investigating the narrative perspectives, discourse types and narrative strategies of the oral history, and analyzing the procedure from witness to narrate and to introspect, we discovered that the narrative strategy of the oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" tends to be "subjective and realistic".By analyzing the narrator, content and narrative strategy, we further discussed the way of constructing the "Chang'an Painting School" under the oral history perspective. The oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" is essentially a reconstruction覧by the current values and perspectives of the narrator覧of content and form of the "Chang'an Painting School". The oral history of "Chang'an Painting School" are narrators'memories(content) delivered by oral account(form), which are the two key components of constructing the "Chang'an Painting School". On the first level, it focused on the memory "scheme" of "Chang'an Painting School" and selective reconstruction; on the second level, it led to the reconstruction of poetic pattern and escape mechanism in the narration. The first level consists of narrators'construct the history through unconsciousness in the first level, while through linguistic during the second. However, under the influence of "Chang'an Painting School complex", nostalgia and empathy, the boundary between these two level tend to disappear, and as a consequence produce a coherent, consisting and systematic account of historical events and characters. This provide "Chang'an Painting School" oral history consistency on it's nature.
