A Study Of The Aesthetic Value Of The Hui People's Mosque In Chinese

Hui Muslims' culture is the result of adaptation and integration of Islamic culture with Chinese Culture,of which the Confucius culture as the representative.The Chinese couplets in the Hui Muslims' masjids is one of the examples.The Masjid is the core and mark symbol,Chinese couplet is part of a variety of functions and authoritative discourse in the masjid,is a direct application of Chinese couplets art.Chinese couplets in the masjids,as a kind of art form,was the borrowing,integration and creation of Islamic culture,Islamic aesthetic thought with Chinese culture and Chinese aesthetics.Couplets in the masjids have important value in Hui Muslims' culture.The in-depth and systematic study of them has positive meaning to promote the study of the aesthetic ideas of Hui Muslims.In this dissertation,the author collected nearly 2000 pieces of couplets from different dynasties such as Song,Ming and Qing,from all around China,which are rich in content with high aesthetic value.The Chinese couplets with multiple forms in the masjids is a comprehensive art of calligraphy,carving,literature,Ornamentation and color.The authors of them are scholars of Hui Muslims'Islamic classics,cultures,non-Muslim scholars,political leaders and civilians with a variety of identities.The styles of couplets are different,which is influenced by various knowledge backgrounds,artistic attainment,cultural backgrounds,periods and authors'identities.The main cultural thoughts the couplets have including Islamic classics of in-masjid education,Arab philosophy,translated classics,as well as the tradition,Chinese philosophy,neo-Confucianism,social culture and literature accumulated in everyday life.The forms of wording could be sub-divided as translated classics,in-masjid languages,Confucius words,idioms,proverbs,sayings Buddhism and Taoism words,and literature words.Thoughts of in masjid education and translated classics are the origin and the basics of Couplets,which formed two styles,the in-masjid couplets with the characteristics of Islamic aesthetics,direct meaning and the colloquial color.And the motivation is for missionary work.Confucianism language plaques highlighted the aesthetic features of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism with elegant language,dual style and so on to embody the analysis of the meaning.The dissertation carries out the empirical research and aesthetic interpretation with the thinking of Collection,Textual criticism and in-depth Interpretation of the couplets based on the context of masjids,Hui Muslims' perspectives and translated classics during Ming and Qing Dynasties.In the first chapter,the author explained the reasons and distributions of the couplets in the masjids with aspects of cultural and environmental influence,and aesthetic needs.Hui Muslim scholars attached the Confucianism to their daily life and analysis of Islamic philosophies,The localization of Masjid architectures and decorations and the ancient political system,as well as the leading influence of intellectuals of Chinese Han and other Non-Muslim celebrities,resulted in the couplets'popularization in the masjids and became an important carrier of aesthetic expression,in therms of the masjids decorative and ideas expression.In the second chapter,the author analyzed the origin and the performance of aesthetic thoughts of couplets,which were mainly from Islamic and Confucian aesthetics.Attaching to Confucianism and interpreting with Confucianism,the couplets in China gave birth to complying with the new connotation of the Islamic aesthetic principles,both ensured the Islamic aesthetic principles and reflected the distinctive characteristics of Chinese culture,namely the Hui Islamic aesthetics characteristic.The Integration of the two aesthetic ideas embodied in various aspects,especially the outstanding performance in the aesthetic ontology and epistemology.TRUTH is the ontology and epistemology describes the central problem of deep structure of their aesthetic value.In the third chapter,the author focused on the analysis the relations between couplets aesthetics with truth and goodness,which summarized the couplets and aesthetic ideal orientation:Positiveness,Perfection,Qingzhen.Besides,the author summarized the aesthetic value with characteristics,extending to natural Truth,absolute beauty into deep structure,beauty and goodness,reverted to the mission and purpose of life.The aesthetic activities of the beginning and the end,deep aesthetic activity is Truth etc.In the fourth chapter,the author analyzed the value and influence of the multidimensional couplets.Couplets is a kind of comprehensive art existing in the masjids with a variety of forms,with rich form of value and artistic value.The couplets were the integration of Islamic aesthetics in depth and Confucian aesthetics with surface meaning,constituting the multiple forms,meaning and experiences to promote the construction of Hui Muslims' culture with specialty and spreading the concept of Five Code,Dual Loyalty and patriotism thought,which shaped the Hui Muslims' national identity and concept of the Chinese nation,and promoted the Hui Muslims' cultural identity process of China as well.The masjid couplets are the typical art form of localized Islamic culture,which has the following features:Implementing Confucian culture concepts,thoughts and words to the Hui Muslimims' Islamic culture;Penetrating the main line of a distinctive nature of consciousness,absolutely beautiful,almost all around the essence of Truth;The dialectical unity of ontology and epistemology basic on ideological characteristics:Not in shape,do not fall in the empty,and there is No image,to the wonderful and non virtual with different in and not in,cent not to leave,a total of substandard;Dialectical thought and cultural integration of the principles and methods on establishing the macro context of Confucianism,the Confucian orthodoxy making full use of the aesthetic thought of Confucian ethics on their ethical outlook on doing good deeds,determined self,self and other,self and God relationship.To Summarize,the couplets is the practice of Hui Muslims' self-expression art.The aesthetic value orientation is that the Truth as the fundamental,and the characteristics of the integration of the Truth,the Goodness and the Beauty,and the advocating the positivism as well as the pursuit of both this and after worlds.In addition,the value orientation of patriotism of China and Islam,the perfection of Natural Law and Humanity are summarized.
