Research On The Semantic Net For The Camel-Related Mongolian Vocabulary

There are many research papers concerning camels from the perspective of language and culture.However,there are very few research materials online and no systematic study is done about camel-related vocabulary yet.This dissertation aims to collect Mongolian vocabulary and folk stories related with camels.It categorized and stored these vocabularies in database with semantic field methods and designed an application system which has search function and can be used online with an expanded database of camel-related folk stories.The structure and main contents are as follows:Part 1(introduction)introduces the significance of research topic,previous research,scope and content of the dissertation and research approach.Part 2 introduces the process of designing and building database of camel-related vocabulary in Mongolian language.It includes the collection and organization of camel-related vocabulary and general linguistic and cultural materials and the designing of semantic net of the vocabulary and establishment of semantic relation of the words.Part 3 analyzes the vocabulary from the perspective of word origin,dialectic characters,words structure.It intends to present the richness of culture and language formed in the long history of nomadic life of Mongolians and the relation between Mongolians and other ethnics and countries and the cultural difference among Mongolians from different regions.Part 4 introduces the process of building semantic net application system of camel-related vocabulary and instructions of usage.There are database for administrator and search platform for users in this system.The last part summarizes the whole content and presents the result of the paper and future work.In appendices categories of semantic field of camel-related vocabulary and field study of Mongolian dialect is included.
