In the 1920s and 1930s,the Xueheng School criticizes the New Culture Movement based on the Irving Babbitt humanism,and participated in the transformation of Chinese culture together.But Xueheng snubbed by the era with its conservative,and its value needs to be excavated.The present study of Xueheng School ethics system is not enough.This paper attempts to study Xueheng ethics by system that starting from the concept of humanism,ethics identity as the main line,with ethical spirit,ethical entity and ethical beliefs dialectical relationship as the core content of moral identity,the final destination in the point of view of humanism.Xueheng School advocated the ethical spirit of "the doctrine of the mean".The ethical spirit is the foundation of the ethical identity,its core content is the unity of the single thing and the universal,the individual and the entity.The world view of "one" and "many" is the foundation of ethical spirit."one" means "idea",is the ontology of all things,universal and eternal,"many"refers to the specific things,special and changeable,both of them are dialectical unification.To observe the human about this,they advocate the dualism of humanity,the "reason" is the high part of humanity and the "desire" is the lower part.The two parts are fighting each other.If "reason"wins "desire" people to perform good deeds,and "desire" wins "reason" is the trend of the evil.Human nature is both good and evil.Based on the dualism of humanity,they think that the core value of the ethical spirit is "the doctrine of the mean",and criticize the natural essence of the scientific outlook on life.Xueheng School emphasis on family and the country is an ethical entity.Ethical entity is implementation way of ethical spirit.Xueheng School first emphasized family is natural ethical entity based on consanguinity.Father and son,husband and wife,brother is not only the relationship between individuals,but also the relationship between the individual and the family entities.The family is the cradle of ethics which has the unity of natural force of its members.Fatherly father and obedient children,loyal husband and docile wife,kind elder brothers and brotherly younger brothers naturally and directly reflect the spiritual of unity between individuals,especially between individual and entity.The country is the highest ethical entity when individuals go to the society.The country is not only a political entity to protect the individual's social freedom,but also an ethical entity,is the highest home for all the people.Individual shouldpursue the unity with the country ethics entity,this kind of unified expression form is the patriotic spirit,the highest state of patriotism is brave.In the national ethics entity,the ethics spirit can obtain the final realization.Xueheng School think that value system of the unity between ethical spirit and ethical entity must have the support of ethical beliefs.Ethical beliefs are believed to value of ethical spirit transcendence,and firmly pursue the will.Ethical beliefs originated from religion as the typical representative of the world to ask the origin of the human nature,the meaning of life,to seek beyond the religious feelings.It has metaphysics,transcendence and holiness.Xueheng School believe that humility in the religious spirit and noble personality is helpful to ethical beliefs,namely to humanity in the high part of humaniy is the foundation of morality,the noble personality of leader is the highest state of the unity between individuals and entities.The realization of the ethical spirit needs the religious feelings.They criticize the scientific beliefs advocated by the new culture school,which do not possess the characteristics of value belief,advocate ethical beliefs of "the doctrine of the mean",that is Good beliefs.Because "heavenly principles" is metaphysical,transcendental and divine,these properties are in the humaniy.The supreme mission of man is to know its nature,to keep its nature,to realize the transcendence of"harmony between the heaven and human".Xueheng School constructed ethical identity system as the core value of "the doctrine of the mean".It is of great value to correct the shortcomings of the new culture school,which extremely advocates individualism and utilitarianism,and pays attention to individual freedom while ignoring the moral entity,belief in science but can't achieve spiritual transcendence.But the Xueheng School also did not achieve the state of "the doctrine of the mean",In theory,tend to"one" and ignore "more",emphasis on"reason" and look down upon "desire",pay attention to the ethical entity and ignore its internal order construction and individual freedom,promote transcendence and reduce the secular.In practice,the action of some of the core people is not in conformity with the knowledge.This causes its ethical identity system exists intolerance.The construction principle of ethical identity is finally to be grasped in the overall level of humanism culture.Humanism is broadly defined reflections on humaniy and human values.From Tu Weiming on "secular humanism" and "external humanism" and "spiritual humanism" concept,it can be seen XueHeng School Ethics system put "humanism" and "humanitarian" diametrically opposed,in fact,focused on "spiritual humanism" despise "secular humanism" and "external humanism".However the construction of ethical identity must be based on "external humanism",with "external humanism" as the guarantee,with "spiritual humanism" as the destination,and to keep the balance between dimensions of Humanistic value.
