A Contemporary Survey Of Scientific Moral Paradigms

The scientific moral paradigm is one of the important categories in the research of scientific morality and increasingly becomes a focal topic in the scientific community,which has attracted broad attention of the international community and the academia.Since the 1950 s,events violating scientific morality emerge in endlessly and become even more violent with successive occurrence of the Summerlin Incident,the Baltimore Case,the Hwang Woo-Suk Case and the Haruko Obokata Case etc.For a comparatively long period of time,research workers thought that problems relenting to scientific morality are personal matters caused by low moral cognition of specific research workers and hoped the self-correcting mechanism of science could solve them.However,facts proved that this idea is excessively idealistic.Though the self-correcting mechanism of science plays a certain role,it cannot effectively control scientific misconduct of scientific groups in modern science.On the basis of Marxist philosophy,taking the unity of history and logic as a basic principle and philosophy of science as basic theory,this paper carried out deep and systematic research on scientific morality from a perspective of paradigms.Starting from definition of concepts of scientific moral paradigms,it reviewed the origin of scientific moral paradigms and based on strict distinction of modern and contemporary scientific moral paradigms,it focused on analyzing causes of crises of contemporary scientific moral paradigms and solutions in line with national conditions.This paper is divided into six sections: the first section is introduction that mainly describes the background of scientific moral paradigms and discusses the status of domestic and foreign research about scientific moral paradigms and its research methods.In the second section,it primarily explains and defines concepts of scientific moral paradigms and systematically summarizes the formation of scientific moral paradigms,the context of the scientific development,the evolution of scientific morality and the overall process of the development of the theory of scientific moral paradigms from ancient Greek civilization,the emergence of modern science to the development of modern science.The third section mainly discusses numerous problems created during transformation from modern scientific moral paradigms to contemporary scientific moral paradigms.The number of researchers limited in the modern scientific moral paradigm is relatively small with pure purposes of scientific research and little outer effects.In this paradigm,scientists are engaged in scientific research mainly because of science itself.That is to say,it is a scientific moral paradigm for science.After World War II,the society changed sharply and so did the scientific research activity.At this moment,science researchers boomed.Governments and enterprises massively involved in scientific research work,purposes of scientific research influenced by various external factors were not simple any longer.Thus,the original scientific moral paradigm could not effectively define all researchers and behavior violating scientific morality appeared repeatedly,leading to a crisis of scientific moral paradigms.In the fourth section,it mainly analyzes causes of the crisis of scientific moral paradigms and its causes mainly have three sources.The first one is the social origin as the transformation of the social environment made scientific research more complex.The second one is the system root where the academic supervision mechanism and the evaluation mechanism are not sound.The third one is the main origin in which researchers' subjective understanding of scientific morality is insufficient.China hasn't paid attention to education of scientific morality on science researchers.In the fifth part,the author puts forward the path and meaning of strengthening scientific moral paradigm.First,create a good social environment,and puts forward to adapt to the development of modern science of science and the core content of moral paradigm,which promote the scientific spirit,promote the quality of scientists.Secondly,we should improve the mechanism of academic supervision and evaluation.Third,improve the moral and social security of scientific research workers,and ensure the healthy operation of scientific research from the organization and institutions.The significance of strengthening scientific moral paradigm is mainly divided into theoretical meaning and practical significance.First,in terms of theoretical significance,and help to establish and improve scientific moral paradigm research workers even more clear understanding science and moral paradigm,improve the scientific moral paradigm theory,thus to make the right choice in the face of the scientific moral problems.Secondly,in terms of practical significance,and establish a scientific moral paradigm can guarantee the healthy operation of the scientific research,promote the development of science,also is advantageous to the level of China's scientific research workers and scientific research of the ascent of the whole enterprise's sustainable development.
