Primary Investigation On Ancient Iron Smelting Sites In Handan Of Hebei Province

Investigated the iron smelting sites around Handan,those sites include the Warring States-Han Dynasty,the Sui and Tang dynasties,Tang Dynasty and the Northern Song dynasties,Yuan dynasty through historical literature survey,site survey,and laboratory work.Confirmed those iron smelting sites' age include Guzhen sites,Kuangshancun site,Jingjicun site,Xilusahng site,Macun site,and discuss the iron smelting technology characteristics and iron smelting fuel according to the results of literature survey and laboratory work for the smelting relic(include metallographic observation and SEM observation).get the conclusion that the Xilushang smelting site and,Luzhainao smelting site were used the cola as iron smelting fuels,while the Cishan site,Jingjicun site,Cuilu site and Kuangshang cun site were used the charcoal as iron smelting fuels.The lime has used as additive smelting since the late Warring States period.The iron smelting sites were taken in blast furnace mainly around Handan.Special found the Xilushang site was use the coal as fuel and it time was Yuan dynasty(judge by ancient ceramic pieces)and it consist with the ancient literature about there were no iron smelting after Yuan dynasty.This site was the only one iron smelting site could affirm the iron smelting site by coal as iron smelting fuel with confirm age.
