Path Choice For Universities To Participate In Reconstructing Chinese Cultural Self-confidence

To re-establish Chinese cultural self-confidence is one of the major themes and the solid foundation,which is the inevitable choice to response more and more fierce competition between different countries and nations,and the important guarantee to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese Dream.China has a long and splendid cultural history of 5000 years,which is a miracle in the world.However,since the historical change in late Qing Dynasty,China has gradually lost the cultural self-confidence we had for thousands of years.So to speak,we are always exploring the cultural construction during the last 100 years.As for the trend of Chinese cultural development,from the May Fourth Movement to the 1960s Great Cultural Revolution and then the Open Policy and the Marketization Movement centralized by economy,Chinese cultural construction is still faced with the fiercest tests and challenges with manty difficulties and obstacles.While we emphasize the role of economy too much,the West just raises the notion of soft power of culture,holds the hegemonism of cultural soft power,and bring much more threat and challenge to us.Faced with the loss of our traditional cultural and the invasion of the West’culture,how should we construct our new culture to confront the challenges from the West and the market economy?To answer the question,we must think over the great theoretical and practical problem how to reestablish Chinese cultural self-confidence.Chinese universities have evolved from the excellentized period to the massification period,and then will evolve into the universal period.Now the gross enrollment rate is nearly 40%.Obviously,the university has changed from the tower of ivory to the ordinary consumer goods to almost every family,which has never been like before.Therefore,universities have been the most important power for cultural construction.This is not only the historical tasks for today’s universities,but also the inevitable requirements from the social development.The study uses the historical method,comparative analysis,literature research method and logical analysis to tease the developing venation of Chinese culture,to clarify the historical fact that Chinese culture has always played mighty and dominant role in the developmental history of world culture,to find the realistic reason why we need strive to reestablish Chinese cultural self-confidence,and to endow the great mission of cultural construction to today’s universities.The focus of the dissertation is to argue the path and methods for Chinese university to participate in the re-establishment of Chinese cultural self-confidence,which is not only a theoretical exploration,but also a practical exploration to provide the guiding suggestions and ideas to reestablish Chinese cultural self-confidence.The study is on the path choice for the universities to re-establish the cultural self-confidence.That is to establish modern universities with Chinese cultural spirit,promote and intensify the university teaching reform of Chinese traditional cultural education,cultivating the cultural talents,gathering the cultural elites,leading the cultural development of China,setting up the bridge of cultural radiant,implementing the strategy of culturalstepping-out,booming the cultural industries to make culture as a new economic growth point,establishing the highland of moral cultivation,etc.By these approaches,it is possible for universities to actively play the role of cultural construction,to consciously participate the re-establishment of Chinese cultural self-confidence to make it the important power to make great contributions.Meanwhile,we should accelerate series of changes and developments for universities to promote their competitiveness,influence and quality,which is the ultimate purpose and has great meanings.
