Improving the quality of education is the theme of the development of higher education.The quality of education is the core content of the quality of higher education.As for the research universities,improving the quality of education has special significance.To build an innovation-oriented country,innovation ability has become a key factor to measure the quality of education.Based on the research,this thesis demonstrates the main issues of the quality of undergraduate education in the research universities,analyzes the interactions between the main factors that affect the quality of education and various factors,and finally tries to propose countermeasures to improve the quality of undergraduate education in the research universities.Given that the current research on the quality of undergraduate education pays more attention to the results of the quality of education and teaching process quality,this thesis focuses on goal setting of the quality of education,idea renewal of the quality of education,innovative mode selection of the quality of education,etc.Through the analyses of the related factors of the quality of education,this thesis finds out the key factors influencing the quality of education,builds up the model of the quality of education,and puts forward some strategies to improve the quality of education.As for the education objective,it needs to highlight the learning ability,the innovation ability and the comprehensive quality of the undergraduates,emphasize on student-centered orientation,independent learning and research-based learning in the concept of education.In view of the important position of the innovation ability in the quality of undergraduate education,the thesis focuses on the innovation ability of the undergraduates based on the system of the quality of education,including value guidance,knowledge transfer and ability cultivation.Taking the innovative training program of undergraduates as an example,it carries on empirical analyses of the education of the innovation ability of undergraduates.In the teaching mode and mode design of undergraduate education,the education of innovation ability should be centered in the path exploration of undergraduate education by promoting the interaction between teaching and scientific research,strengthening the construction of teachers,building collaborative innovation mechanism,deepening internal governance of universities,and employing the international education resources.This subject breaks through the narrow understanding of the quality of education,examines the consistency of education objectives and the actual needs from the social needs and student needs.Through the analyses of education objective design and the changes of the mode of education,the thesis makes the research on the quality of education trace back to the design quality of education objectives and the influence of the changes of education modes instead of passively focusing on the results of the quality of education.It pays more attention to the idea of a university or the goal of design,which are previously neglected.Besides that,it focuses on the deep interactions between the education mode and the quality of education and enriches the connotation of the concept of the quality of education.This thesis summarizes the existing problems and challenges in the quality of undergraduate education in the research universities on the basis of a deep understanding of the background and characteristics of the quality of undergraduate education in the research universities by consulting literature,questionnaire and individual interviews.At the same time,a comparative study between China and foreign countries is conducted.By learning from the experience of the undergraduate education reform in the United States,the thesis makes sure that it is closely integrated with China's specific practice.Specific content includes the following aspects:Chapter 1 Introduction.It discusses the research background,the research objective and the research significance.It reviews relevant research literatures at home and abroad,introduces the research objectives and research content,including the innovation points,and makes a description of the research ideas,research methods and writing framework.Chapter 2 Theoretical Bases.It defines the basic concepts of the quality of education,research university,education mode and so on,analyzes the different perspectives of quality research and the value orientation of the quality of education,and examines the relationship between the quality of education and the quality of higher education.This chapter puts forward the concept of research university and demonstrates the development of research university in China and analyzes the macroeconomic and social background of the quality of undergraduate education.It points out that the innovation of education mode is the key to improve the quality of education and the reform of education mode should be realized at the teaching level.Chapter 3 Education Objectives.Research universities should emphasize on student-centered orientation,highlight the promotion of the learning ability,the innovation ability and the comprehensive quality of the undergraduates,and focus on the education of the innovation ability.They should establish the teaching view and the learning view which are suitable for the education of innovation ability and could take advantage of research universities,guarantee the academic freedom,and promote the academic innovation.Chapter 4 A Case Study on The Quality of Education.Based on the questionnaires and the in-depth interviews,taking the innovative training program of undergraduates of a research university as the research object,this thesis puts forward the research hypothesis of the quality of education and constructs the model,determines the index selection of the model,carries on the data analyses,and carries out the quantitative analyses which take the promotion of students' ability and innovative and indicative achievement as the indicators of the quality of education.Through the in-depth interviews and the qualitative analyses with students,the key factors influencing the innovation ability of the undergraduates are analyzed.Chapter 5 The Path Exploration for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education.In order to improve the quality of education,especially to improve the innovation ability of the undergraduates,this thesis puts forward some suggestions on how to promote the interactions between teaching and research,strengthen the construction of the teaching staff,build the collaborative innovation mechanisms,deepen the internal governance of universities,and promote the internationalization process from several aspects,such as universities,students,teachers,society and international communication.Chapter 6 Conclusion and Prospect.Whether the undergraduates could be consistent with the social and personal needs and the education objectives determines the level of the quality of education,which is the measurement standard of the quality of undergraduate education.The education of innovation ability is the key point of the research university to improve the quality of undergraduate education and to exert the advantages of educational resources.The main problems in the quality of undergraduate education are the weak innovation consciousness and the low innovation ability.The key to improving the quality of undergraduate education in research universities is the clarity of objectives of undergraduate education and the innovation of education mode.The quality of undergraduate education is the core of testing the education of research universities,and teaching philosophy,teaching methods and teaching investment of teachers is the key to improve the quality of undergraduate education.
