Firstly, this paper compares the history, natural endowment and present situation of agriculture and agricultural technology in Fujian and Taiwan. The results reveal the similarity in conditions for the development of agriculture as well as the differences in economic development phases between Fujian and Taiwan, which indicates the potential for industry transfer and cooperation in agriculture. Secondly, this paper investgated the spatial patter of Taiwanese's Agricualtural Direct Investment (TADI) in mainland China and Fujian. The results show that the TADI in mainland China presents a T-shaped spatial pattern. TADI has been significantly concentrated in the coastal area of mainland China, especially in Guangdong and Jiangsu. In Fujian, particularly, TADI significantly concerntrates in Fuzhou and Zhangzhou City, presents a continually changing spatial pattern. Thirdly, this paper analyses the technological diffusion in macro, meso and micro level, the results suggest that:?On the macro level, gradually opening-up along with the external resources inflow enforce significant influence on agricultural TFP(Total factor productivity) and promote the agricultural technological changes of Fujian province. Compared to the trade channels, agricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan presents more remarkable technological spillovers on agricultural technological changes of Fujian.? on the meso level, the temporal diffusion pattern of new species from Taiwan, which are accompanied by the TADI in Fujian, is conform to the S-curve. The rate of diffusion presents a "bell-shaped" curve. The diffusion circle of the new species is shorter than other species. The spatial diffusion pattern is simultaneous contagious diffusion and jump diffusion, while the former is dominant. The factors influencing pattern and intensity of tehcnological diffusion are factor inputs, promotion mechanism of agricultural technology, geodistance and technological protection of technology origin.? on the micro level, this paper analyzes the technological diffusion of TDI through the study on technology origin and receptor. Industrial linkage, labor flow and demonstration effect are the three channels through which generates the technology spillover of TDI in mainland China. The spillover effect is affected by the capital, human resources, development strategy and technological protection of both technology origin and receptor. For the technology adoption, one peasant household decides to adopt the new technology or not is basically rest on his labour force, time engaging in agriculture, present conditions and history of crops planting, etc. Lastly, this paper concludes with some constructive suggestion on strengthening agricultural cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan as well as intensifying the technological diffusion of TDI in Fujian. Furthermore, this paper comes up with some research prospects concerning the research topic for further studies.
