Proton exchange membrane fuel cell has the characteristics of a low temperature start,non-electrolyte leakage,high energy conversion rate,low corrosion,long service life and pollution-free,which has important potential applications in areas of military,aerospace,regional power plant and electric cars etc.In this paper,the graphene oxide?GO?,sulfonated groups functioned graphene oxide?FGO?,triazole functioned graphene oxide?NGO?,super acid fibers?S-ZrO2?,sulfonated poly?aryl ether ketone sulfone??STPEKS?,poly?2,5-benzimidazole??ABPBI?and polybenzimidazole?PBI?were prepared.In addition,four series of functionalized graphite oxide composite proton exchange membranes,GO/ABPBI composite membranes,NGO/PBI composite membranes,NGO/S-ZrO2/ABPBI composite membranes and FGO/STPEKS composite membranes,were also prepared,which have not been reported.The structures of the composite membranes were characterized by FTIR,XPS,XRD,SEM,TEM and SAXS,respectively.The properties of these new materials,including thermal stability,oxidative stability,methanol-resistance,mechanical property and proton conductivity,were investigated.The effects and laws of functional graphite oxide on these properties of the composite proton exchange membranes were discussed as well.It was found that the sheets of sulfonic acid groups functionalized graphene oxide?FGO?could prevent the permeation of methanol and effectively avoid catalyst poisoning,which caused by methanol leakage during the use of the proton exchange membrane.At the same time,the introduction of FGO provided favorable conditions for improving the proton conductivity of the composite membranes.The proton conductivity of FGO5/P?P stands for STPEKS?is 0.12 S/cm and 0.23 S/cm at 25°C and 80°C,respectively,which is almost double that of Nafion 117?proton conductivity0.064 S/cm,25°C?and and 26%higher than of non-functionalized GO5/P?0.089 S/cm,at 25°C?.The battery performance of functionalized graphene oxide composite proton exchange membranes showed that the maximum power density of samples S-ZrO2/NGO/ABPBI?1.0?and PBI/NGO?1.9?were 233mW/cm2 and 254mW/cm2,respectively at 160°C.The maximum power density of sample FGO5/P was371mW/cm2 at 80°C and 100%RH,which is 20%higher than that of Nafion 117?the maximum power density:309 mW/cm2?and 44%higher than that fo the pure STPEKS membrane?the maximum power density:257 mW/cm2?.
