Polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs)are persistent organic pollutants(POPs)that are chiefly characterized by highly toxic, persistence, bioaccumulation and long-distancemobility,which result in environment pollution and harm on human health. The study on the bio-toxcity of PBDEs is still in the initialstage in China, and the problems of the base of pollution, the accumulation in the environment and the human body and the potential ecological risk are urgently solved. This study focused on the environmental toxicity of PBDEs,the distributions of PBDE sinmulti media and the ecological risk assessment. The main contents and research results are as follows:(1)The QSAR model of four POPs characteristics(biotoxicity,bioaccumulation,persistence,long-distance migration ability)of PBDEs was established. All of the models have good linearity, robustness and predictive ability. The four POPs characteristics of PBDEs were analyzed from the molecular orbital point of view.Molecular volume V in molecular orbital parameters has a direct effect on the persistence,long-range mobility and biotoxicity of PBDEs.Therefore, molecular volume is a key molecular orbital parameter affecting the POPs characteristics of PBDEs.The lowest occupied orbital energy of Elomo has a direct influence on the bioaccumulation of PBDEs.In addition,nuclear-nuclear repulsion energy CCR,heat generation HOF,etc.also affect the parameters of PBDEs POPs.(2)Analytical methods for eight PBDEs(including BDE-209)based on isotope dilution-accelerated solvent extraction-multilayer composite silica gel column purification-GC/MS are set up.The analytical method can analyze PBDEs compounds of low bromine and high bromine(especially BDE-209)at one time, which greatly simplifies the analysis process and improves the speed of sample analysis compared with the GC-NCI-MS method, and can be widely applied to numerous samples. The detection limit of the method was 0.11-2.1?g/kg,and 6 low-concentration and high-concentration blank spiked samples were tested in parallel. The relative standard deviation was less than 13%,and the recovery rate was 85%?110%,which satisfied the analytical method requirements(3)The levels, distribution characteristics, pollution characteristics and toxicity analysis of PBDEs in soil and plants of abandoned deca-BDE plant and those in fish of a producing deca-BDE plant were studied, and the following results were obtained:The concentration of PBDEs in the soil was fromnot detected to 3.7×104 ng/g,and the median concentrationwas 0.60?1.17×104ng/g.The congener detection rate was from72.2%(BDE 99 and 154)to 100%(BDE 47 and 209).According to the results of the significant analysis, the concentration of BDE-209 was directly correlated with the concentration of 17 PBDEs(P<0.0001).The order of PBDEs concentration in different functional areas is:production area>warehouse area>office area. The concentration of PBDEs in the soil migrated along the soil geological layer. The concentration of ?7 PBDEs(BDE-28,47,100,99,154,153 and 183)in plants was 7.89?1087.19ng/g dry weight, and the concentration of BDE-209 was 2805.6?19382.9 ng/g dry weight, whichisfar higher than the content of PBDEs in the city. The distribution characteristics of PBDEs in plants were similar:BDE-209 was the highest,BDE-183 was equivalent to 153,and lower than BDE-209.BDE-99 was equivalent to BDE-47,and slightly higher than BDE-154.BDE-100 and BDE-28 were the lowestmonomer. This indicates that the sources of PBDEs in plants are similar, which is the result of a combination of soil and atmospheric deposition.TEQ calculations proved that PBDEs are more toxic in plants than in soil. The concentration of ?7 PBDEs in fish was 45.8?560 ng/g(fat weight,1w),and that in fish liver was 327?2120 ng/g 1w.BDE-47,100,99 and 154 were the main monomers in fish meat and liver samples.(4)Hazard quotient was used for ecological risk assessment of PBDEs in multimedia which was recommended by United State Environmental protection Agency. The results showed that the potiental risk was low in soil of the closed deca-BDE plant, but high in plant of the closed deca-BDE manufactory. In addition, there is potential ecological risk of PBDEs in fish near the deca-BDE factory.
