Nowadays, with the construction of high-speed rail lines,high-speed railway in China comes to the stage of high-efficiency operation. With the improvement of the completion of rail network and the increase of transport efficiency, passengers demand grows rapidly.Based on the infrastructures and practical operation eonditions, the carrying capacity of high-speed railway needs to be extended. As one of the basic transport plans, the relationship between train line plans and capacity utilization is very closed.Due to this, train line planning based on the capacity utilization is required to be studied.Further, the operation mode of "cyclic trains" has been widely used in foreign countries, which includes a series of advantages of high regularity, departure time which can be remembered easily, and convenient passenger transference. Many experiences have been also referred in the operation process of high-speed railway in China. However, based on the operation mode of "cyclic trains",the researches of train line planning which are suitable for large-scale high-speed railway network and satisfying diverse passenger demand are required to be studied.According to above, this thesis studies a series of key problems of train line planning of high-speed railway based on capacity utilization and the operation mode of "cyclic trains" deeply.Main research contents include:(1)Based on the definitions of section carrying capacity of high-speed railway,Section Two analyses the influence factors of section capacity utilization, including headway time of stations, the number of platform tracks, headway time of sections, the distance between stations, train acceleration and deceleration time, running time of sections, train stop plan, dwell time, train order, overtakings, and cross-line trains, which offers the theoretical basic of train line planning based on capacity utilization.(2)According to the definitions and factors of cyclic train line plans,Section Three explain the method and process of cyclic train line planning based on capacity utilization, including data preparation module, cyclic train line planning module, preliminary evaluation of section capacity utilization module, train stop plan adjustment module, the matching of supply and demand module, and feedbacks. The cyclic train line planning module, preliminary evaluation of section capacity utilization module and train stop plan adjustment module include three core mathematical models, which are presented in Section four to Section Six,respectively.(3)Many factors including train origin-destinations(ODs),frequencies,paths,and stops are usually deternined in train line planning which is very complex for large-scale networks. The flexible stopping patterns based on the traditional definition of "line pool"in Section Four can satisfy diverse passenger demand, reduce redundant number of stops, eontrol the structure of train stops reasonably, and reduce the difficulty of generating line pools of large-scale networks.A linear integer programming model based on flexible line pools is proposed to optimize train ODs,frequencies and stops, which includes the constraints of passenger accessibility, flexible stopping patterms and stopping strategies, and two objectives of minimizing the maximum number of trains of sections and the number of stops.Further, the effectiveness of flexible stopping patterms, the impact of different stopping strategies and the structure of train stops on train line plans and transport service level are analyzed based on a series of experiments.(4)Train timetabling is usually used to calculate and evaluate the carrying capacity utilization based on train line plans.A linear integer programming model of calculating the minimum cycle time based on the event-activity network, the Period Event Scheduling Problem(PESP)and cyclic train line plan is presented in Section Five, including the new constraints of train overtakings in stations and sections according to the relationship between overtaking and module variables and one objective of minimizing the cycle time,to verify the reasonability of the cycle time and the feasibility of the train line plan, which can offer the theoretical basis of train timetabling.(5)Different numbers of stops will cause different train travel times and decrease train homogeneity and capacity utilization.Besides, adding new train stops is also one of the common ways to solve train conflicts. The relationship between train stops and capacity utilization is very closed.A linear integer programming model of adjusting train stop plans to increase capacity utilization based on the Period Event Scheduling Problem(PESP)and original cyclic train line plan is presented in Section Six,including the new constraints of event-activity and stopping rules by adding new stop variables, and three objectives of minimizing the cycle time, the number of stops and total train travel time,to look for more opportunities to increase the capacity utilization based on train line plans by adjusting train stops.(6)In Section Seven,a network case study based on the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed railway with related rail lines is considered.A capacity-oriented cyclic train line plan of the network in one day is generated and optimized by using the proposed method in this thesis based on practical data and parameters, which verifies the reasonability of the cycle time and the feasibility of the train line plan, and indicate the efficiency and applicability of the proposed method of cyclic train line planning based on capacity utilization.
