With the rapid development of next-generation information technologies such as the Internet of Things,big data,blockchain,artificial intelligence and cloud computing,a large number of multi-domain,multi-granularity,multi-modal,complex correlation,low-value density data are continuously generated and rapidly expanded.It has important research significance and great practical value for the structured,semi-structured and unstructured data visualizations with large volume,rapid growth,multi-domain heterogeneity and complex relationship.Due to numbers of uncertainties in data acquisition,data conversion and algorithm design,the visualization results represent variability,while users have strong consistency requirements for the design,processing and expectation in the visualization process.This need is difficult to meet in existing research.Good theory always appears by itself after exhausting all kinds of conventional solutions.The image schema has the characteristics of preposition,unconsciousness,stability,universality and sensibility.It can automatically be started and works occupying rarely or not the mind resources.The characteristics of image schema theory in other design cases show that it has great application value in multi-domain heterogeneous data visualization design.A research in depth has been conducted in the present article.The basic contents of the research include: Chapter 1 defines the origin,purpose,significance and method of the research in the context of the rapid development of the new generation of information technology,defines the research object and key terms of this paper,and adopts the cluster analysis method for domestic and abroad researches.The status quo of external research has been sorted out,and the shortcomings of research have been summarized.The knowledge map with hierarchical structure has been drawn,and the research rules,characteristics,frontiers and trends of the field have been analyzed.The second chapter firstly divides the data visualization basic chart into six categories,and associates it with the image schema subgraph according to the visual expression and the internal logic relationship;then divides dozens of image schema subgraphs into seven categories.For each abstract sub-pattern interpretation,the specific graphics are illustrated,and on this basis,the design inspiration of the various types of image schemas for the data visual chart is extracted.The third chapter demonstrates that the visualization and inclusive performance based on the image schema and its metaphor design can effectively alleviate the complexity and uncertainty of data visualization to a certain extent;construct the image schema and visual representation in geometric layout and space.The deep correlation of layout,color gradient and interaction construction completes the integration of image schema theory and multi-domain heterogeneous data visualization system.The fourth chapter summarizes the design principles of schema extraction,demand mining and schema fitting,and proposes the design strategy and design model of multi-domain heterogeneous data visualization system from the perspective of complete image schema theory.The fifth chapter uses and verifies the above research results through the panoramic visualization design of urban big data of a city.At the end of the paper,the research conclusions are drawn and the research process is reflected and forecasted.The article has achieved the following research results:1.Establishment of a mapping between image schema and data visual representationThe article introduces the theoretical knowledge of design and psychology,combined with the author’s visual project design experience,the data visual representation basic chart is divided into data distribution,time series expression,domain alignment,spatial expression,partial and integral data relationship.Through the deep analysis of the visual representation of data visual representation and interaction factors,establishes a deep association with the image schema subgraph.At the same time,the seven subclasses of abstract subgraphs that have been systematically researched and verified are graphically represented.Based on this,basic graphs,force maps,control graphs,spatial graphs,process graphs,and composite graphs are supposed to be inspired by the design of data visual representation.2.A multi-domain heterogeneous data visualization design method based on image schema is proposedThe design based on image schema theory has the characteristics of manifestation,inclusiveness and certain innovation.At the same time,it has a high degree of consistency and internal logic relationship with the visual expression of multi-domain heterogeneous data.This paper systematically organizes and analyzes the internal logic relationship,and combines the specific application scenarios and cases to propose a methodology from sub-pattern extraction,visual interaction design to visual expression depth fusion.The research results are applied to the big data of a certain city’s panoramic visualization interaction construction and user interface design.The evaluation proves that the image schema theory obviously brings the visual graph interpretation efficiency to the visual representation of multi-domain heterogeneous data,effectively eliminates the uncertainty,and can visually display the multi-domain heterogeneous data trend and enhance greatly user’s visual perception,significantly reduces the complexity of data association and has excellent validity and practicability.It also optimizes the designer’s workflow and brings improvements to design efficiency,providing innovative solutions for designers to explore design issues.3.Expanding the research ideas of design disciplines from the perspective of empiricist philosophyThe article uses empiricism and cognitive linguistics theory to broaden the connotation and extension of data visualization design research.Through in-depth analysis of the case and theoretical derivation,the tool system and logical framework of multi-domain heterogeneous data visualization design are constructed.It provides a new visual design research ideas and research methods from the perspective of empiricist philosophy.The conclusions of the article on the interactive research of users and designers in the schema extraction not only theoretically expand the research scope of the field,improve the research framework of design features in data visualization design,but also become related visual design strategies and principles helping to guide designers in the design development process.
