With the upgrading of urban road infrastructure constructions and the development of intelligent transportation technology, the urban transportation system is serving travellers with higher network accessibility and information transmission efficiency.Meanwhile, travellers' choice behaviour is also influenced subtly by this change. Before a travel action, people are more willing to obtain traffic information of feasible routes through navigation software and choose a suitable route to complete this action after measuring the multiple factors such as travel time, travel cost and congestion of multiple routes. This change in choice behaviour is consistent with the assumption of the regret theory. Therefore,it is urgent to study the urban traffic system from the perspective of regret,to understand the choice behaviour of individuals' and the formation rules of group traffic flow.In this dissertation, individuals' travel behaviour based on the assumption of bounded rationality is analysed, the factors that lead regret perception to change are extracted and a regret theory-based route choice model is proposed.Equilibrium traffic assignment models are also studied based on the regret theory, from the perspectives of multi-class users and multiple objectives.Specific research contents are as follows:Firstly, with the bounded rational assumption, individuals' travel behaviour under the influence of regret is studied. The whole process of travel decision is analysed in stages and the bounded rational phenomena in each stage are concluded, most of which are existed in the stage of information collection and scheme comparison. Then the reasonability of applying the regret theory to express the above phenomena is discussed. The hypotheses of regret perception in the context of travel choice are proposed, including the qualities of outcomes, the proximity to the ideal outcome, actions'familiarity to decision-makers and the asymmetric perception of regret and rejoice, etc Through a questionnaire based on commuting, the above hypotheses are verified and the main factors that lead the perception of regret to change are identifiedSecondly, considering the factors that influence perceptive regret,a random regret minimization model describing travel choice is proposed. With the help of regret consistency model, the counterfactual thinking process in travel decision making is constructed and the mechanism of how factors influencing regret is analysed. With the help of the concept of psychological distance, choices are distinguished according to their distance from decision-makers' anchor point. Then an advanced random regret minimization model considering psychological distance is developed. An empirical study is carried out based on the survey data of Swiss metro. The influence on the travel mode choices by psychological distance is analyzed;meanwhile, the performances of the new model in data fitting and prediction accuracy are investigated.Thirdly, with the consideration of heterogeneous users, the long-term equilibrium traffic flow pattern based on the regret theory is studied.Users are classified according to travellers'familiarity with different paths connecting the same origin-destination pair The effective travel time based on travel time reliability is adopted as the foundation of regret measurement.Assuming that different classes of users require different travel time reliabilities for different paths,a multi-class stochastic user equilibrium model based on the regret theory is developed.Numerical examples compare traffic flow distributions by the models of multi-class and single-class users, and the influences on traffic assignment by different user proportions, path familiarities and travel time reliabilities are also discussedFinally, the study on traffic assignment is extended from considering a single objective to considering multiple objectives, and the equilibrium flow pattern is analysed by non-compensatory multi-objective method. With the assumption that travellers might consider each of the objectives separately, the non-compensatory stochastic user equilibrium models are proposed considering regret aversion and utility pursuit combing regret aversion, respectively. In numerical examples, the differences of path choices by the compensatory models and the non-compensatory ones are shown, the impacts of travel demand and perceptive errors are investigated by different non-compensatory models. The property of solutions by the two new models is also discussed through numerical tests.
