A Research About The Canonization Of Huang Tingjian During The Song Dynasty

This paper focus on the process the Canonization of Huang Tingjian(include both his work and a writer himself) from the late Northern Song Dynasty to the end of the Southern Song.Deep into the history context,Huang’s Canonization was affected by four factors:poetics,the times,calligraphy,religion (Buddhism),and the four kind of strength played different roles in this process.Huang reached his highest achievements in the field of poetry and calligraphy,while poetry occupied a higher metaphysical rank in the literati culture,poetry should be the core content in the Canonization."The times" means the special political and cultural situation,in which Huang become one of the cultural icons of Song Dynasty.In addition to its artistic value,the calligraphy work of Huang has become a catalyst of the Canonization.Since the marginalization of Buddhism in secular society,it plays its role in the Canonization process mainly through shaping Huang and his work.Considering the four factors above,this article will discuss the poetry canonization with two chapters,while the last chapter focus on the cultural idol Huang Tingjian.The first chapter explores the poetry canonization in the perspective of external research.In the first section,the canonization has been divided into four stages.Huang got great reputation alive and was considered ingenious.Since the creation of "Jiangxi Sectarian Map",Jiangxi School has appeared in the history of literature.Jiangxi poetry swept Parnassus.Two of The four poet of Southern Song,Yang Wanli and Lu You,which were quite closely to the Jiangxi poetry,both abandoned the Jiangxi poetry spontaneously in their middle age.Then,while the late Tang poetry was in vogue in the leading of “Si Ling",the Parnassus went into the mutual slander situation.Fang Hui proposed the poetry pedigree "one forefather three fathers",which suggested the actual influence of Huang had declined significantly.The Jiangxi sectarian map" of Lv Benzhong established the existence of Jiangxi School of Poetry in the history of Chinese Classical Literature.But the exact purpose and motivation in the creation of sectarian figure,as documents disappeared,has been no longer able to be confirmed.In this case,not explore too much the private motivation of Lv,but focus on the political and cultural situation or Parnassus tradition in the late Northern Song,is more conducive to explain the emergence of sectarian figure.Generation to generation,the Northern Song shares the consciousness that there is a chief author,and Su Shi was the last chief.Someone thought Huang Tingjian,as the most famous student of Su,was more good at writing potery than Su.The appearance of “Jiangxi sectarian map"was a reflection of this trend.Section III addresses the connotation of the concept of the School of Jiangxi.Although there is a great influence in the South Song Dynasty,but the history of the School of Jiangxi identified characteristics are mixed.Have to admit,there is no uniform standards to judge what is the flavor of Jiangxi poetry.So,what are the core characteristics and common features of Jiangxi School?From the using in the Southern Song,we can clean out the following four connotations:spiritual connotation based on Confucianism accomplishment;a program of Learning Writing poem by Huang or "Flexible Means" by Lv Benzhong;poetry skills like selecting a word,syntax,rhyming,etc.;aesthetic orientation of Austere.The second chapter explores the poetry canonization in the perspective of internal research."Golden Touch" and “Remoulding indeed the most influential Poetics of Huang Tingjian,so the first two sections discuss them separately.By analyzing poems of Huang,I summed up that the “Golden Touch" method means leveraging contextual differences intentionally when using allusion.Since then people began to distinguish word allusion and story allusion.The Thinking Mode of"Golden Touch" is intrinsically linked with” intentional misreading" in the Zen koan.Since the proposing of the "Remoulding" theory,people started to pay attention to the conventionalism and conversion in poetry.Hui-hong,As a Zen Buddhist monk,bring up this theory,which remind us that the " Remoulding" way of thinking is quite similar to the Song writing about Zen koan.To disguss the influence of Remoulding theory,we have to distinguish two categories of Creation theory and appreciation theory.In the context of the creation theory,Remoulding was construed as plagiarism.In the appreciation theory,Remoulding evoked a strong passion to find the source of poetic.As the most individual writer in the history of Chinese literature,both of Li He and Huang Tingjian employed a lot of rhetoric metonymy in Poetry.Metonymy words in the poetry of Li He are mainly self-created with a strong sense of material,which of Huang Tingjian mainly come from allusion.The complexity in the using of allusion bring about a great variety of Metonymy in Huang ’s Poetry.Influenced by the language interest of Zen,Huang Tingjian,as the representative of the Song Dynasty,had a great interest in the effect of "No Broke"of Metonymy.As the poetry style of Li and Huang both have been evaluated as"odd",the using of Metonymy played an important role in the shaping process.If we throw off the perspective of linear extension of the literary history,both of Li He and Huang Tingjian represented the possible development direction of Chinese literature.The third chapter focus on the cultural idol Huang Tingjian.The moral attention to Huang Tingjian is closely related to the ordeal of patry struggle of the late Northern Song.The personal favorite from emperor,the spread of "Jiangxi Sectarian Map",the identity of Yuanyou character,make him a great name.Fundamental reason is the cultural mechanism that Yuanyou became the model era of Song Dynasty.Section II discussed the process of Huang as a model of personality.With his moral,Mind accomplishment,integrity,Huang has become a model of personality in the eyes of the Song people.In this process,the spread of Huang’ s calligraphy work act as an important catalyst.Images of Su Shi and Huang Ting are somewhat political and moral,which is determined by a special party struggle and other political background in Song.The subject of ridicule literati image had just become mainstream after the Ming Dynasty.Section III discussed a landscape"Quick Court" under the impact of Huang Tingjian.Since Huang wrote his poem,"Quick Court" became a well-known landscape of Taihe,which should be positioned as regional landscape.As a building,"Quick Corner" provides a place for human activities,so as to continuously activate cultural psychological memory of people’s minds.The essence of “Quick Court" as a landscape is a mental space constructed by Huang’s poetry text.The substance of “Quick Court" exists only as the material carrier of mental space,so its specific shape is not important.The poem shaped the scenery of “Quick Court":sunny,gulls,and other personified scenery solidifies.When people board the Court,they are always weaving through the text to see the solidification scenery.The juxtaposition of the pleasure during boarding “Quick Court" and the willful in the death rain over the south tower in the poem of Li Angying shows that the personality image has been his mail image.People understand the pleasure in boarding “Quick Board" not as leisurely or contentment,but as the accomplishments of Mind,somewhat political and ethical.
