A Study Of Dong Folk Art

Dong is a minority with unique folk art,their architecture,sculpture,painting and handicraft has distinctive national feature.Drum-tower,Wind-rain Bridge,theater,Feishan temple,and SA altar is the iconic architectural style of Dong.Their dyeing and dressing is known as living fossil of costume,their sculptures are beautiful,their paintings are rustic but elegant,and their handicrafts have various kinds.Dong is a minority which possesses great varieties on folk arts,so the study on it is highly significant to learn Chinese national art.In this paper,Dong folk art as the research object,hope from the overall perspective,through literature study and field investigation method,come to know its history,production environment and current condition,understanding its art form,theme,style and features,and puts forward some suggestions for the protection and inheritance on it.This paper is divided into three parts with seven chapters,the first part includes the first,the second and the third chapter,mainly expounds some external problems and focus on the shape of the existing state.The second part includes the fourth,the fifth,the sixth chapter,mainly focused on the metaphysical concept.The third part is the seventh chapter,it mainly puts forward suggestions for future development.The first chapter introduces the general situation of Dong nationality and Dong folk art,it think the source of Dong folk art is Gaomiao culture.From the diachronic point,this part reviews the history of Dong folk art with the cultural relics in Dong minority area,and analyzes the status quo of Dong folk art and the difference between the north and the south from the synchronic perspective.The second chapter analyzes the formation environment of Dong folk art from the nature and customs,offer the reason for the rich remains is that the social development is lagging behind,and suggested that the unique characteristics of Dong folk art is due to the unique cultural customs.The third chapter is divided into four aspects:architecture,sculpture,painting,arts and crafts,and analyzes the historical records and contemporary forms of them.The forth chapter is one of the main innovations of this study,this part suggest that engendering,humanity,beauty,freedom,sharing and durability are the theme of Dong folk art.Engenders is based on the world all things have spirit concept;humanity is the creation criterion and the pursuit goal;beauty is the form based on utility;freedom is the expression of consolation;sharing is the benefit of self-practice;durability is a claim of creation.The fifth chapter describes another major innovation of this study,it consider draft,interpenetration,imagination,bringing,inheritance,analogy and creation are the modeling method of Dong folk art.Draft is to perceive image from object,interpenetration is imaginary connection,and imagination is the show of the fancy.Bringing is learning each other in ethnic groups,analogy is various symbols,and creation is unity of mind and object,and inheritance is to adopt the tradition.The sixth part is the main innovation of the study once more,the general characteristics of the Dong folk art were summarized in it.There are many characteristics of Dong folk art,on the cultural connotation,the ancient cultural genes of Gaomiao still have something to follow,the heritage of Chinese traditional culture can also be seen everywhere.In its spiritual connotation,content is happiness,continuous self-renewal,harmonious coexistence,chaotic thinking,and animism is the life view of Dong.Rude,bold and bizarre is obvious aspect in its arts style.Dong folk art is a cultivation culture,it also as a poem of rice planting,and it's a result of underdevelopment.Material poverty and spiritual abundance is their social life character.The fifth chapter discuss inheritance and protection on Dong folk art,hold that the present situation of the protection of Dong folk art be a result of joy and sorrow.On the one hand,the Government is highly concerned while people efforts on it,the conservation and restoration have achieved unprecedented success;on the other hand,the protection isn't take the cultural protection as the fundamental criterion,but for the purpose of developing tourism economy,there for,culture gives way to the economy.Folk activities are the soil for the growth of folk art,so the protection of custom is the key to the survival of folk art.Due to the independent environment,Dong folk art has its own national character,The relatively isolated environment make the customs independent while delay it develop,it's also the reason why the Dong folk art can better preserve the ancient culture gene and historical style.The uniqueness of the Dong folk art is due to the lag of the level on social development.
