Taiwan's modernist fiction is an integral part of Chinese modernist literature,and its artistic skills and aesthetic concepts have become one of the main symbol s of contemporary Taiwan literature and one of the main literary standards.Since 1980s,Taiwan modern novel art has matured,the connotation of modernism has been constantly developed and deepened,produced a deep influence on the deve lopment of contemporary literature in Taiwan.In the first chapter of this paper,the basic development of modernist novels in Taiwan is analyzed.1930s is the embryonic period,the main source of thought is Japan's "new sense school",known as the pre-war Taiwan modernist literature.T he second stage of the development of Taiwan's modernist novels is that in 1960s,Bai Xianyong and other modern writers have pushed forward the development of Taiwan modernism novels.They draw lessons from the western modernism in th e form technique and the novel idea,but in the novel esthetics especially the lang uage aspect has concealed or has carried on the Chinese characteristic.The third stage is 1980s,modern novels have emerged in the development of new high mo dernism.The second chapter mainly tackles the spiritual space of modernist novels in Taiwan.In the first section of this chapter,the author analyzes the historical backg round of the spiritual crisis of Taiwan's social subjects for a long time.The second section copes with identity myths in modern fiction showed in intellectuals and mar ginalized groups.The third section focuses on the theme of "exile"/"self exile" in t he modernist novels since the 80s,and the theme of wandering in the river image and the situation of the human being.The fourth section focuses on the "small" his torical narration of modernist novelists since the 1980s.The fifth section analyzes interpretation of the modernist novels of spiritual salvation.The third chapter discusses the writing strategies of modernist novelists.On t he basis of the analysis of the text,the first part traces back to the allegorical writi ng strategies of Taiwan modernist novels since 1980s.The second section focuse s on lust and violence in the aspects of modernist text since 80s in a large number of erotic writing.The third section explores the embodiment of the dream writing s trategy in the modernist novels:The fourth chapter:the language experiment of modernist novelists since 80s.The first section examines the "Chinese language" experiment.The second secti on examines Wang Wenxing and Wang Zhen and the "mixed" language in the nov el.Wang Wenxing's "hybrid" language codes in the novel and Wang Zhen's "multil ingual hybrid" writing completely abandon the rational standardization of modern'Chinese language,and try to utilize shape,pronunciation and meaning to build its own art world.The third section inspects the great variability of grammar and rheto ric text in Wu He novels.The fourth section inspects Guo Songfen and Li Yu's "po etic" language experiment.They mix the poetic form in China traditional aesthetic value to build the space of literary impressionism.In the conclusion part,the author makes a position of Taiwan modernist novel s since 1980s,and looks forward to its influence and position in the field of East A sian literature.
