This paper is mainly composed of three parts: introduction, main text, and conclusion. The introduction mainly discusses the origin of this paper. After reading and studying Mo Yan’s novels,I believe that Mo Yan’s novels seem to show special preference for the character’s psychological portrayal.By describing the psychology of many characters, the novel presents readers with a colorful picture of life and the other side of the life picture of the characters.Through his unique aesthetic research,Mo Yan demonstrated his own rebellion to the traditional aesthetic value and elimination of its meaning. Therefore,I think that It is of unique value to study Mo Yan’s creation from the perspective of psychology. It can not only help to taste the freedom consciousness, tragedy consciousness, and loneliness consciousness that pervade the novel, but also help to really penetrate into the inner world of Mo Yan.There are five chapters in the body of the text.Chapters 1 to 3 mainly discuss three kinds of morbid personality images in Mo Yan’s novels, and explain the pathological and psychological significance of their morbid psychology.Chapter 1 is "The Pathological Heroes and Pathological State of Heroes".It mainly expounds the hero image and its morbid personality in Mo Yan’s novels.Mo Yan cannot be said to be the first person in a contemporary Chinese writer to find a morbid hero, but he did create some morbid heroes earlier. It is the appearance of these sick heroes that made him one of the most outstanding writers in contemporary China. This chapter focuses on analyzing the morbid personality and psychology of Yu Zhan’ao,Sima Ku and Sun Bing.Yu Zhan’ao is the hero of Mo Yan’s novel Red Sorghum(1986).Yu Zhan’aofully demonstrated the vitality of the Chinese people who had been imprisoned for a long time.It showed the unyielding spirit and the unruly and independent personality, all of which injected fresh blood into the works of the new period. However,we cannot ignore that Yu Zhan’ao is also a complex image with a morbid personality. The two morbid personality types of "split personality disorder" and"anti-social personality disorder" are particularly prominent in Yu Zhan’ao.The former is mainly manifested in his lack of interpersonal relationships. His ideas are more paranoid with emotional discomfort or restrictions. The latter is mainly manifested in his non-compliance with social norms concerning legitimate behavior. He is relatively impulsive and very prone to irritability. He is very aggressive, often rashly disregards the safety of himself or others, and his methods and forms of conduct are very brutal and violent. The appearance of Yu Zhan’ao’s image is related to Mo Yan’s creative psychology.Mo Yan created the Red Sorghum(1986),through the portrayal of characters, especially through the development of Yu Zhan’ao’s character personality and the development of the story. He also found a compensation mechanism for his inner pain. The formation of morbid personality of Yu Zhan’ao mainly stems from three aspects of morbid psychology: paternal psychology, dual personality, delusional disorder.Sima Ku’s "natural" is reflected in the ambitious nature of people. In the conflict with other people’s interests,he is always "actively participating." Sima Ku’s original life was strong, which made a romantic and splendidaccount of his legend.Sima Ku is a hero.Sima Ku used his life and innumerable deeds to cast the title of hero and interpret the light of heroism. However, judging from the personality classification of ICD-10(1992)by the World Health Organization,Sima Ku’s behavior and the mental state it manifests are very close to some of the pathological patterns of behavior in the narcissistic personality disorder and performance personality disorders. There are certain obstacles in Sima Ku’s personality;but in the era of Simakou’s restoration to the political culture of the time,Sima Ku’s psychology was in line with the needs of the times, and was a special “morbid psychological hero” created in that special era.".As a unity of contradiction, the morbid psychology of heroes is fully reflected in Sun Bing. The reader’s knowledge of Sun Bing has mostly stayed at the side of perseverance, bravery, and a strong rebellious spirit. However, when we carefully understand the image of this character,it is not difficult to find that his rebellion is actually a yielding response to traditional secular authority and exposure of his human shortcomings. The ideal is fantastic, but social reality is cruel. The relentless social reality revealed in the works always gives Sun Bing a slap in the face, allowing Sun Bing to completely despair and loneliness in society. The flaw in personality and the reality’s tricks make the tragic destiny appear to be particularly prominent in Sun Bing’s anti-hero image, which makes him unable to escape.Chapter 2 is "The Pathological Women and Pathological State of Women".It mainly expounds the image of sick women and their morbid personality in Mo Yan’s novels. In Mo Yan’s novels, there is a kind of eternal protagonist. They are the ones who walk between tall, humble and dissolute, tough, courageous and rebellious, and usecourage and perseverance to break the traditional sharp female image. They are morbid and innovative;they are pursuing the well-being of mankind and rebelliously rebelling against the rules of society. They also pinpoint the author’s resistance to the feudal ideology of 5,000 years.Dai Fenglian,"my grandmother" in Red Sorghum(1986)is both a glamorous female figure and a very prominent figure with a morbid personality. Her actions are similar to "anti-social personality disorder" and "marginal personality disorder." The former embodies a high degree of offensive retaliatory, while the latter manifests itself as self-consciousness and emotional instability, and has a clear impulse. In Big Breasts & Wide Hips(1995),Mo Yan demonstrated the vitality and passion of motherhood through the image of the mother of the earth,Shangguan Lushi.Shangguan Lushi has a distinctive “motherhood” identity label, which makes her more representative of similar women in Mo Yan’s other works as a representative of their break with traditional rituals and patriarchal culture. However,in the character image of "Shangguan Lushi",the character of split personality is also reflected. And her morbidity is more than traditional thoughts and forced by society at that time, and it has more social critical significance.Sun Meiniang, who dared to like and hate in Sandalwood Death(2001),was a fully beautified character. However,in that era when feudalism was overriding,Sun Meiniang’s personality was not only unrealistic but also pathological. In fact,Sun Meiniang has many similarities with " my grandmother " in Red Sorghum(1986).She equally ignores the social rules at that time,is equally rich in fighting spirit and aggressiveness, equally indulges herself and pursues the happiness she wants, and equally follows the inner call. Therefore,Sun Meiniang also has an "anti-social" type ofmorbid personality. But it is precisely this morbid personality that was distorted by the times made her a pathological hero against that era.Chapter 3 is "The Pathological Ordinary People and Pathological State of Ordinary People ".It mainly expounds the ordinary people figures and their morbid personality in Mo Yan’s novels. The blue face in Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out(2006),“the only self-employed business person in the country”,in the era of earth-shaking and under the influence of various waves,he resisted desperately by using his stubbornness and pure pristine to the land, which witnessed the historical drama of rural transformation in that era.He used his way to succeed finally, but the price is that he is betrayed by his family and deserted by his supporters. He is a peasant-style loneliness hero created by Mo Yan.Through the description of his performance and mental state in the novel,it can be seen that some aspects of his personality are very close to the split personality disorder. However, from the perspective of a novelist,Mo Yan sees the morbidity of this society from the personality disorder of blue face.Through these morbid personality,it also profoundly reflects the features of that era.The aunt in the Frog(2009)did good deeds on one side, and on the other hand carried out the family planning policy resolutely: ligation surgery was performed on men who had had a childbirth, and abortion was given to a woman who had already had childbirth. The aunt should be a controversial figure, but the character’s personality and psychology are completely morbid. On the one hand, the aunt’s psychology is typical paranoia, mainly manifested as stubborn, sensitive and suspicious;emotionally unstable,irritability,narrow-minded,jealous,easy to drill, high self-evaluation,and like to demean others. On the other hand, the aunt has a split-type personality, mainly reflected in itself as a “murder killer,”but she considers herself as a “midwife”.This morbid personality also created the complex diversity of her personality. After Fang Fugui in Thirteen Steps(1988)became the shadow of Zhang Chiqiu, his near-edge morbid psychology became the trigger for his suicide. This morbid manifestation has become a common human relationship, unstable emotions,self-consciousness manifestations, strong impulses, and frantic struggle to avoid the illusion or abandonment of reality; There is a certain degree of identity cognitive barriers,as well as very unstable self-imagining or lasting feelings about himself.Fang Fugui’s image and his morbid personality have made people more aware of the strong influence and distorting effect of society on personality.Chapter 4 is "The Causes of Morbid Personalities in Mo Yan’s Novels".It mainly expounds Mo Yan’s attention to morbid personality and the reasons for his description.I mainly explain from three aspects, which are Mo Yan’s personal psychological characteristics, the intrinsic factors and external factors in the pathological personality. For Mo Yan’s personal psychological research, the current study still does not have a unified definition.Mo Yan’s personality psychology is undoubtedly a unity of contradiction that blends multiple factors: tenacity, deepness, and inward sensitivity;it is introverted and self-conscious with inflexible fantasy, but also rebellious and stubborn. In the above contradictions and contradictions, what is particularly highlighted is his sense of freedom, driven by the rebellious and imaginative temperament;his sensitive and tough characteristics have given birth to a deep sense of tragedy;it seems to be inborn. That kind of deep feeling of loneliness comes from his depression and sentimental temperament. This unique blending element hasmade Mo Yan’s work a success, and it has also made Mo Yan’s works unique literary value.Internal factors have a lot to do with Mo Yan’s family life and childhood experiences.Mo Yan grew up in a long period of solitude, unbearable hunger and beatings. When he began to work, loneliness and hunger became the source of his creation. For Mo Yan,exuberant creativity is not only inspired but also comes from his experience of missing food and lacking love.External factors are related to the influence of foreign literature and traditional literature he has received.Foreign literature, especially those of Faulkner, inspired Mo Yan’s creations. This inspiration first inspired Mo Yan from his self-consciousness and allowed Mo Yan to find a different self.Shandong’s profound historical culture and frequent wars have also given Mo Yan’s profound objective environment to edify and stimulate, and those rich and splendid folk myths and legends unique to Shandong’s geographical features have become the material resources and aesthetics on which Mo Yan’s works survive.Chapter 5 is "The Significance of Morbid Personality Description in Mo Yan’s Novels".It mainly explains the meaning of morbid personality description in Mo Yan’s novels from three aspects. The first is the criticism of feudalism.Although China has entered the modern society, the feudal thought is still very profound.Mo Yan,through the pathological manifestation of some morbid characters, used another artistic method to carry out an in-depth criticism of the feudal system and its ideas, which has positive and practical significance.Second,in this way, ugly human nature has been digging deep.Third, through the depiction of such legendary figures,a meaningful breakthrough was made in the traditional narrative methods and their language expressions. Finally,a brief summary of the above research was made in the conclusion.
