A Study On The Influence Of Chinese Tang Poetry On Vietnamese Ly-Tran Poetry

Vietnam is located in the Indochinese Peninsula and shares its mountainous border with the South of China.These two countries have a long-term culture relationship.Historically,during the Zhou Chengwang period(the tenth century BC),the relationship between Vietnam and China has been established.From the end of the third century to the beginning of the tenth century,Vietnam was a district which was governed under the Chinese feudalism.As a result,this relationship has been strengthened.With a period of more than a thousand years of being invaded,Vietnamese culture was strongly influenced,including literature and art.Especially,the development of Chinese Tang Poetry(618-907)had strong influence on Vietnamese poetry,and the most typical one was Vietnamese poetry during Ly-Tran Dynasties.Vietnamese poetry during Ly-Tran Dynasties represents a five-century period of history,from the tenth century to the fifteenth century.During this time,Sino-Vietnamese which was borrowed from Chinese was used as the official language of this country.As a result,this has great influence on Vietnamese literature.At that time,many poets were preferable to the ancient Chinese poems and specifically,Chinese Tang poems.Its beauty was preferred to the extraordinary natural beauty of Xi Shi by a Vietnamese famous poet named Ngo Thi Si(1726-1780).Chinese Tang poetry is expressed in various aspects.This dissertation uses the most representative cases of Vietnamese Ly-Tran poetry,and then analyzes to compare and contrast the typical influence focusing on the genres’ influence of Chinese Tang Dynasty poetry on Vietnamese Ly-Tran poetry;ideas borrowing or imitation from Chinese Tang Dynasty poetry into Vietnamese works;scholars’ admiration for Chinese Tang Dynasty poetry during Ly-Tran Dynasties and poets during Chinese Tang Dynasty.However,in addition to the influence,Vietnamese Ly-Tran poetry has been changing in its functions and ways of expressions;therefore,it has its own features and becomes the important part of Vietnamese poetry.
