Generally speaking,Buddhism was introduced into China during the Han Dynasty. At the same time,Buddhism also entered Vietnam.Due to many factors such as administrative divisions, the ancient Vietnam was naturally influenced by the Chinese culture of its north region. As a result, the Buddhist culture from China in the Han Dynasty had a deep influence on the ancient Vietnam.Today, after the revival of Vietnamese Buddhism,we can see everywhere that the Buddhist culture with Mahayana Buddhist spirit as its main content affects the beliefs of Vietnamese people and all aspects of lives. The most prominent aspect of Vietnamese Buddhism's inheritance from Chinese Buddhism is the absorbing of sectarian characteristics. For example, the three early Zen sects that took root in ancient Vietnamese society and the later bamboo forest Zen sect that featured imperial Zen.Therefore,we see the status of Zen in Vietnamese Buddhism. In fact, along with it,Vietnamese Buddhism also has a tradition of emphasizing"teaching".Looking at the development history of Vietnamese Buddhism,Zen Buddhist monks also recite and practice The Lotus Sutra. The belief in The Lotus Sutra refers to various practice traditions centered on The Lotus Sutra in the history of Vietnamese Buddhism. The definition of the belief in The Lotus Sutra is not limited to the connotation of Tiantai Sect, which regards The Lotus Sutra as its canon. In fact,it was not until the first half of the last century that the Tiantai Sect in the Han Dynasty was officially introduced into Vietnam, and formed a Tiantai Zen Sect with its own Vietnamese characteristics. However,if taking The Lotus Sutra as a clue,we can completely outline Vietnam's Lotus Sutra Belief in the development history of Vietnamese Buddhism. The research of this theory first started with the issue of the spread of The Lotus Sutra in Vietnam along with the historical development of Vietnam. Therefore, the contents of the first, second and third chapters of this theory take time as the axis and clarify the contents related to The Lotus Sutra from the development of Buddhist culture in the Li-Chen period, the post Li-Nguyen period and even the modern Vietnam. The fourth chapter returns to the gist of The Lotus Sutra scripture, and discuss how Vietnamese Buddhism practices The Lotus Sutra in combination with its specific content,so as to show the Belief in The Lotus Sutra in contemporary Vietnamese Buddhism. The fifth chapter of this thesis focuses on the current Buddhist practice in Vietnam from the Dojo,a symbol of the contemporary development of the Belief in The Lotus Sutra. Finally, the conclusion part of this theory is mainly discussed combining the significance of The Lotus Sutra to Vietnamese Buddhism and even Vietnamese society.
