A Long Draft Edition of Chronicle Annalistic,as a kind of chronological recording history(??????)genre which arose in the modern times,combines recordings of events and figures.It is based on the traditional Chronicle as a supplement of a Chronicle,however,it has its own superiority.A Long Draft Edition of Chronicle can accommodate more historical material,lay particular stress on recording some bigger and more important events,and show more details of figure's personal lives.It is more suitable for those figures who make greater contributions and have more historical influences and complex life experiences.Therefore,a Long Draft Edition of Chronicle has a higher academic value compared to a Chronicle.Nearly theses three decades,compliling a Long Draft Edition of Chronicle has showed the flourishing trend,and some new researching phenomenon appeared,for example,expanding of visual field of investigating the protagonist's life events,diversification of focal points,attaching importance to investigating the protagonist's spiritual path by micro perspective,and carding the development thread of his or her thought.As a result,it more and more becomes a researching style between a Chronicle and a Prosopography(??).In the view of the important position of Wang Shizhen in Chinese Ancient History,Chinese Ancient Culture History and Historical Science History(???),a Chronicle has not met the needs of research because of its style's limitations.Since a large amount of systematic collation of literature about Wang Shizhen have been discovered and an increasingly comprehensive and in-depth study have been published,a Long Draft Edition of Chronicle is needed desperately.At the same time,the literature conditions are also in place objectively.Thus,considering the lack of Wang Shizhen's Long Draft Edition of Chronicle,the author is willng to follow the example that some people chose Long Draft Edition of Chronicles as their Doctoral Theses,and give it a try.This thesis is the first one Long Draft Edition of Chronicle of Wang Shizhen.On the basis of previous Chronicles,this thesis increases some richer,and more detailed literature information,It emphasizes a few great changes in Wang Shizhen's life,reveals several facts and reasons,and strives to show the evolution process of his character,emotion and literary thought.The thesis constructs the history by facts,and embraces author's ownopinions.The thesis' s main value and contribution are as follows.The first one is that this thesis fills the gap of previous Chronicles of and adds a lot of credible literatures and materials,which come from domestic and foreign libraries.Thousands of literatures include Wang Shizhen's individual works,Ming Dynasty-related works,historical records,local history,genealogies,notes and novels,researchers's papers and treatises and so on.Its extensiveness and richness is far beyond those previous ones,and a lot of precious literatures are added.On the selection of literature,this thesis compares different editions of a same kind of writing,and chooses the earlier and better preserved one generally,and then proofread them.The main books are divided into orgininal editions(??),collated edition(??),some other collated ones for reference(???).Historical materials are selected strictly.Usually,the earlier firsthand materials are preferred,in order to maintain the reliability.By virtue of rich and detailed materials,this thesis fills the vacancies,solves several problems,corrects some errors,and compansate kinds of defects of old Chronicles for the lack of new-founded historical materials.The second one is that this thesis is constructed by facts,and highlights the important events,which embraces the author's ideas vaguely.This thesis pays attention to studying relationship between events,and form all of descriptions of Wang Shizhen into a secutive,flowing,and changing network,in order to restore the figure's life as much as possible.On the basis of comprehensive summary of Wang Shizhen's activity in his life and personality changes,his life path is devided to seven changes.The first change is that he Passed the National Examination in Twenty-sixth year of jiajing.After that,he worked in the Boards(??)for nine years,when he and his like-minded friends were committed to literary activity in their spare times.During this time,he was high-spirited,had the courage to take responsibility and was never afraid of powerful men.The second change is that he was promoted to qingzhou xianfu(????)out of the centre city on October of the thirty-five year of jiajing.Next three years,he worked in local government and his administrative ability improved.Because of his father'high position in court,some people were jealous.So he bear avoiding trouble in mind all the time.The third change is on May of the fifth year of jiajing,his father was thrown into prison.He resigned from his office and went to help save his father from danger.Next two years,he remained in the centre city,experienced all kinds of difficulty.He was pessimistic with fear,anxiety and anger.The forth change is that in the thirty-ninth of jiajing,his father was wronged and killed.He went home with his father's coffin.From then on,he lived a depressed and sad life at home for seven years.Being sad and painful,his character changed a lot and became more gentle.The fifth change is that in the first year of longqing,he went to the capital to vindicate his father,and then his career began to get better.From the second year of longqing to the winter of the sixth year of wanli,he went out for an official again,held various positions,and was impeached for some times.In the ups and downs of his career,his character became more gentle.After he was asked to be relieved of his duty and go home by the emperor in the sixth year of wanli,he was more frustrated with his official career.The sixth change is that he began to follow a teacher to learn religion and convert“tian dan”(??)till the eighth year of wanli.Next seven years,he specialized in religious practice in order to get rid of the bother from the secular life.From the fifteenth year of wanli,he was appointed as nanjing Right-President of the Board of War(???????),his official career was gradually developed,and finally reached the ministerial level.But he was not interested in the official career,and indifferent to the secular life.He only hoped end his life with the companion of tiandan(??).This is the seventh change.From this seven change,we can devide Wang Shizhen's life into eight periods:being young,being in captital,being in qingzhou,his father suffering disaster;living a depressed and sad life at home,going out for an official again,and being old.At the same time,this thesis finds out some important fields of Wang Shizhen's life and focuses on his literary ability by a more detailed collation.And this thesis refers to some big and important events which had a significant impact on his life,especially two events,which are also two simbolsin his life:his father suffered disaster in thirty-ninth year of jiajing,he was asked to be relieved of his duty and went home in the sixth year of wanli.The third point is that the thesis combs the evolution thread of literary writing and thought more systematically and Comprehensively.Before this,people had different views or disagreements about that.Through studying and combing literarures of Wang Shizhen's literary activity,the author believes that all his literary writing and thought should be devided into four stages.From the ninteeth year of jiajing to the twenty-seventh year of jiajing,he just began his writing and he had not formed his independent literary thought,which is the the initial stage.The second stage is that from twenty-eighth year of jiajing tothirty-seventh year of jiajing,he comprehensively studied classical poetry rules and specialized in Retro(??)literature.From thirty-eighth year of jiajing to the autumn of the forth year of wanli,which is the third period,he tried hard to innovate his writing,but he never lost the style(??).From the winter of the forth year of wanli to eighteeth year of wanli he died,although his writing had not been out of the Retro(??)literary,he gradually removed some simulation phenomenon and reached maturity.His literary thought were all-inclusive,reconciled the various theories,and at last formed a system by itself when it was mature and finalized.The forth one is making some progress of style of a Long Draft Edition of Chronicle.A Long Draft Edition of Chronicle is still developing and completing.The thesis does not only obey the rules of a Long Draft Edition of Chronicle,but also gives some addition according to writing needs,which makes the style more perfect.They are mainly reflected in the following points.Firstly,according to the two events and eight periods in the figure's life,the structure of this thesis' s main body is devided into three parts and eight volumes;before every year's events,the thesis sets a summary,which is used to outline events in this year and their influences;Secondly,the thesis sets an abstract under the main body,in order to analyze events' nature,reveal events' beginning and end,or comment the figure's thought.The Completion of this thesis,is not only the supplement and summary of all historical data on Wang Shizhen's life,but aslo a kind of tentitive richness and perfection of the style of a Long Draft Edition of Chronicle.
