Research On Art Consciousness Of Schelling’s Philosophy

Philosophical theory’s conscious attention to aesthetic issues is an important theoretical feature of postmodern philosophy after Kant.Philosophy’s aesthetic consciousness has not only changed the theoretical theme of philosophy,but also changed the discourse mode and existence pattern of philosophy to a certain extent.Therefore,the study of philosophical aesthetics has an important meta-philosophical significance.The art consciousness of Schelling’s philosophy is an important part of aesthetic consciousness of philosophy.This thesis attempts to study the art consciousness of Schelling’s philosophy from the perspective of meta-philosophy,to analyze the origin of art consciousness of Schelling’s philosophy,to reveal the overall framework of Schelling’s philosophy and his unique understanding of art,and to highlight the art’s important role in Schelling’s philosophy,in order to make comment on the influence,significance and limits of Schelling’s art consciousness.This thesis holds that the art consciousness of Schelling’s philosophy stems from the historical and cultural background of modern European cultural trends and social movements,and also the theoretical enlightenment of aesthetic consciousness of Kant’s philosophy.The ideological and cultural movements and social movements from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment period promoted the recovery of art and the improvement of its status,which provided an objective foundation for Schelling.At the same time,Kant opened the door to philosophical aesthetic consciousness,laying a theoretical foundation for Schelling to introduce art into philosophical thinking.Schelling reflected on the absence of aesthetic problems in philosophy since ancient Greece and inherited the basic ideas of aesthetic consciousness of Kant’s philosophy.The overall framework of Schelling’s philosophy lies in the identity logic of its system.All of Schelling’s philosophy can be divided into early and late stages of development,but in general,Schelling always takes identity as the highest basis and makes it an important clue throughout the early and late philosophy.In the early philosophy,Schelling established the philosophy of identity system based on "absolute identity".In the late religious philosophy system,although the Schelling’s research focus has been changed,the overall idea of the identity problems remains to be continued as a fundamental clue.Therfore,religious philosophy is an extension of the identity problem.In other words,Schelling runs through the whole context of philosophy with the identity problem.In Schelling’s opinion,the essence of art is "the overflow of the absolute" and what he wants to explain is "the absolute art",so as to show that art obtains the divine essence from the absolute.Schelling established a complete set of artistic philosophy system through the conception of art essence,characteristics,laws,and forms.In other words,art philosophy is the conception of art.The absoluteness of art and the relationship between art and philosophy determine that art philosophy must show the dimension of identity,thus art conception is the confirmation of identity.The art consciousness of Schelling’s philosophy lies in the constructive effect of art on philosophy,revealing the artistic dimension of philosophical reflection.According to Schelling,art is an objective philosophy,which is the eternal certificate of philosophy in the real world.As a construction tool of philosophy,art is directly involved in the construction of the philosophical system.As a result,art philosophy has become the keystone and general theory of tools of philosophy building.Schelling’s attention to art issues and the instrumental role of art in the construction of philosophy have made Schelling’s philosophy show an artistic tendency,thus generating some kind of poetic conception,which has changed the way of philosophy’s existence pattern and discourse mode to some extent.The art consciousness of Schelling’s philosophy has an important impact on later philosophy.Hegel and other philosophers’ attention to art problems and their practice of solving philosophical problems through aesthetics have been inspired by Schelling’s philosophy.The significance lies in Schelling’s succession to Kant’s philosophical aesthetic consciousness,which has perfected the philosophical aesthetic consciousness category,revealed the artistic dimension of philosophical reflection,and provided a reference for contemporary philosophical research.The limitation lies in that Schelling’s artistic intuition has strong mysticism itself,and art consciousness is ultimately lost in religion’s revelation.
