Research On The Bayi Spirit

The Bayi Spirit,a significant form of revolutionary spirit,was formed by the CPC during the New Democratic Revolution,representing a key part of CPC revolutionary ideals and gives full expression to the typical features of our nation at that specific time and background.Just like other forms of CPC revolutionary spirit,this spirit fits the historical trends and the theme of the era,thus enriching the spirituality of CPC members and empowering revolution,construction and reform in every historical period.Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Has Entered a New Era,to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics,strong mental strength is indispensable for the new march towards a moderately prosperous society,further progress in promoting socialism with Chinese characteristics and realizing the Chinese Dream to revitalize our great nation.It is our major historical mission endowed by the time to carry forward the Bayi Spirit and to uphold the spiritual flag.Therefore,study on the spirit is of critical importance to the theory as well as practice.Theoretically,it deepens the study on the Bayi Spirit,which is relatively insufficient among current researches on revolutionary spirit,and makes the study on CPC revolutionary spirit more systematic and complete,thus helping promote the CPC spirit and strengthen “Four Confidences”.It expands and deepens the study on CPC history by analyzing the birth,growth and expansion of the party from the perspective of inheritance and development of the revolutionary spirit.It also adds to the study on CPC army construction and political work in the army.In terms of practice,study on the Bayi Spirit refutes the historical nihilism and answers the important subject about whether revolutionary spirit is of value at the current time.It also enables us to evaluate the historical place and contribution of Nanchang Uprising more objectively and to better utilize revolutionary resources and memory to conduct thematic memorial activities,thus driving the development of revolutionary resources.This article,starting from the journey of localizing Marxism,studies the Bayi Spirit in six parts.Part one elaborates the meaning of and relevant theories on CPC revolutionary spirit.The article first defines revolution,spirit,revolutionary spirit,and CPC revolutionary spirit,then sorts out comments by representative Marxist writers on revolutionary spirit and summarizes general content and development of theories on CPC revolutionary spirit,providing scientific and systematic ground and methodology for the study on the Bayi Spirit.Part two demonstrates the history of the formation of the Bayi Spirit.In this part,the practice ground,theory source and cultural foundation for the spirit are analyzed.It has been reached that its practice ground is Nanchang Uprising,theory sources from science and advanced Marxism and historical foundation lies in the enriched and outstanding traditional Chinese culture.The third part reveals the essence and basic features of the Bayi Spirit.By digging up shared spiritual elements demonstrated by participants and incidents of August First Uprising led by the CPC,from which the spirit was stemmed,and putting them against current context,this part explains the essence of the spirit.The essence can be summarized as the ingenuity of abiding by the CPC commands and having the courage to be the first,the spirit of striving tenaciously while holding firm beliefs and the willingness to sacrifice for the people.They represent the core and pillar of the spirit and embody its essence.Outstanding features of the spirit like feasibility,progressiveness and creativity are also presented in this part.Part four unveils the evolution and major functions of the spirit.By analyzing the internal links and differences between the Bayi Spirit and that of Jinggangshan,Chinese Soviet area,the long march,Yanan and Xibeipo,the conclusion that the Bayi Spirit bears the function of guiding,uniting,inspiring and educating is reached.The fifth part clarifies the historical place of the spirit and its value at the current time.It inherits the spirit of the Chinese nation and manifests the CPC qualities and it reflects the needs of the time and pursuits of the CPC.The study shows that the value of the spirit at the current time can be summarized as but not limited to embodying the political righteousness of the absolute leadership of the CPC to the army and reflecting the original beliefs of the CPC,the courage to march forward of the people’s army and the CPC’s pursuit for the people.This spirit should be advanced and enriched at the new historical environment.Part six puts forward suggestions for the promotion and development of the spirit under new circumstance.This part starts by listing the advantageous conditions and challenges in the new context,and then proposes three principles for carrying forward the spirit,which are paying equal attention to universality and individuality,combining theoretical education with social practices and coordinating theoretical support with innovation.In the end,the basic road-map is defined as striving incessantly for innovation and progress of the spirit by deepening recognition,enhancing education and understanding of the spirit and focusing on its practice.This road-map intends to bring out new brilliance,to cultivate more talents with positive values and to accumulate robust strength for realizing the Chinese Dream of revitalizing the great nation.
