With the progress of the "Export-oriented" strategy in China, the export abroad developed vigorously and the scale of outward foreign direct investment increased constantly after reform and opening up,especially joining the World Trade Organization.China's commodity export and capital outflow play a decisive role in the world. In 2015,China became the world's top exporter of goods and the second largest exporter of capital. At the same time, the number of Chinese who have moved abroad has a steadv increase.According to UN data,China was the fourth largest immigrant exporter in 2015,with a total of 60 million immigrants, which accounted for 24.59%of the total immigrants in the whole world.Judging from the macro statistics,China's export trade is mainly distributed in the countries or regions with a larger immigrant stock, while fewer goods are exported to the countries or regions with smaller immigrant stock. In terms of the OFDI location distribution, the major investment regions are the countries or regions with a large amount immigrant stock, and the investment is in a low development in the countries with fewer immigrant stock. For a long time, the relationship between immigration and trade has been paid much attention by economists, overseas immigration networks links all kinds of interpersonal relationships.First of all, from the perspective of export volume, the migration network mainly promotes the growth of trade volume through social network effect and other ways, and at the same time avoids and prevents transaction risks through the construction and improvement of internal governance mechanism. However, the existing research mainly explores the influence of overseas immigration network on export trade from a macro level, and seldom involves micro angles such as binary margin. This paper attempts to analyze the impact of overseas migration network on export dual margin.Secondly, from the perspective of export quality, only by breaking through the existing technical barriers and improving product quality can China reach the goal of becoming a powerful trading nation. At present, there is a problem of inconsistency between the quality of export products and the total export volume.Although the export volume is relatively large, the product quality has not been recognized internationally.Since no scholars have systematically studied the relationship between the migration network and the quality of trade exports, this topic will focus on analyzing this problem and try to find out the answer to the question " whether the migration network also affects trade in terms of export quality".In addition,as an important relationship asset, the overseas migration network has a profound impact on foreign direct investment.Does China's overseas migration network have the same impact on OFDI with different motivations? What are the effects of different skill levels and different periods of immigration on OFDI?These are the problems that this paper tries to solve. Finally, many literatures point out that there is mutual influence between OFDI and export trade. This paper examines the integration of overseas migration networks, export trade and foreign direct investment into a unified framework.Based on the analysis of the mechanism of the impact of migration networks on export trade and foreign investment,an extended gravity model including migration network variables is derived. The migrants are divided into high-skilled migrants and low-skilled migrants.Ions-term migrants and immediate migrants, using data to quantitatively analyze the influence of overseas migrantsnetwork on China's export trade and foreign investment choice and quantity choice, having great theoretical and practical significance.Specifically, the content of this article is as follows:Chapter I is the introduction, which includes the proposition of the problem, the significance of the research, the definition of related concepts, the research methods and the main innovations.Chapter II is literature review, which combs the relevant domestic and foreign literature on migration and trade, migration and foreign direct investment, international migration and migration theory, and points out the shortage of existing literature and make innovations on this basis.Chapter III is the theoretical analysis of overseas migration network on export trade and foreign direct investment. This chapter establishes theoretical models and analyses the mechanism of overseas migration network promoting export trade scale, export product quality and foreign direct investment, and then analyses the influence mechanism between international trade and foreign direct investment.Chapter IV mainly combs the basic situation of China's overseas migration.export trade and foreign direct investment, including the history.total amount and geographical distribution of overseas migration;the total amount of export trade, regional distribution of export trade, structural distribution and the proportion of trade types;the quantity, regional distribution and industrial structure of foreign direct investment, which lays a realistic foundation for the following empirical test.Chapter V is the empirical test of the impact of China's overseas migration network on export trade and OFDI decision-making.Referring to Helpman's theoretical framework, this paper introduces immigration factors to construct a theoretical model, establishes a micro-level Probit model, and draws relevant conclusions through empirical test.Chapter Chapter VI is an empirical test of the impact of overseas migration networks on China's exports and OFDI.Based on the heterogeneous enterprise model, this chapter embeds the variables of overseas migration network, constructs an expanded gravity model of trade and investment, and uses Chinese data to empirically analyze the impact of migration network on China's export scale, export product quality and foreign direct investment.Chapter VII is conclusions and policy recommendations. This chapter mainly summarizes the main conclusions, policy recommendations and research prospects of the paper.Through theoretical analysis and empirical test, the main conclusions of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the overseas migration network has a promoting effect on export trade in general. From the perspective of time development, from 2005 to 2015,the role of the migration network has gradually increased.Secondly, immigrants of different skill levels have digferent impacts on export trade and OFDI.High-skilled migrants have twice the promotion effect on export trade as low-skilled migrants.High-skilled migrants play a major role in foreign direct investment, while low-skilled migrants do not play a significant role.Thirdly, there is a relationship between Chinese overseas immigrants, export trade and foreign direct investment, which has the character of no obvious immediate effect and prominent long-term promotion.Fourthly, the overseas migration network significantly promotes the probability of enterprises' export trade and foreign direct investment.and its role in nromoting foreign direct investment is stronger.Fifth, for different types of exports and foreign direct investment, the strength of the role of overseas migration networks is not uniform. The Chinese government needs to treat them differently when formulating relevant policies in order to make more rational use of overseas migration networks to promote the development of trade and foreign direct investment, thus promoting China's economic development and industrial restructuring.
