Abstract/Summary:
Phase equilibria in the BiO1.5-SrO-CaO-CuO sub-systems. BiO 1.5-CaO, SrO-CuO, BiO1.5-CaO-CuO, SrO-CaO-CuO and BiO 1.5-SrO-CuO were studied at 1 atm total pressure of pure oxygen. Each of these studies documents compositions, melting temperatures, and the equilibrium relationships among the crystalline phases. Emphasis within ternary systems is placed upon the liquidus, limits of primary phase fields and the temperatures, compositions, and reactions at invariant points. A total of 11 binary peritectics, 3 binary eutectics, 22 ternary tributary reaction points, 7 distributary reaction points, and 5 ternary eutectics are documented within these sub-systems.;The detailed studies of the binary systems provide initial constraints in determining the phase relations of the ternary systems by limiting the possible relationships along binary edges. This sub-system approach is ultimately used in the construction of working models of the BiO1.5-SrO-CaO ternary and BiO1.5-SrO-CaO-CuO quaternary phase diagrams.
