This essay is a pitch analysis of Stefan Wolpe's Piece in Two Parts for Flute and Piano (1960). The piece is also compared to his compositional philosophies and techniques as primarily expressed in his lecture "Thinking Twice." The second part of the dissertation consists of a twelve-minute piece for small wind ensemble entitled Quartet for Wind Ensemble.
