Abstract/Summary:
This research evaluates the organizational effectiveness of nonprofit board of directors in the New Orleans, Louisiana areas affected by hurricane Katrina. The evaluation will result in the development of best practices for boards of nonprofit agencies in disaster situations dealing with organizational effectiveness after disasters. Nonprofit organizations will be able to see the various practices conducted effectively by other nonprofits after a natural disaster and thus pull ideas to implement in their specific case. These same organizations will be able to mold the processes herein to evaluate their own board performance in order to gauge effectiveness as an organization. The data collection will concentrate in two aspects of nonprofit organizations: board member competencies and organizational effectiveness.
