Abstract/Summary:
This qualitative research study explores the organization and management of cleanup activities related specifically to the clandestine production of methamphetamine, although it has applications to clandestine production of other drugs such as PCP. The striking inconsistency among the various agencies tasked with responding to and cleaning up waste from these sites is telling. Understanding the actors' perspectives of how cleanup is approached and how best practices are incorporated makes contributions to the field and toward formal consistency in these approaches. Alignment of protocols and discussion of best practices among these affected agencies/organizations will develop perspectives that align the various roles of the actors and the rules of the various agencies/organizations involved in these tasks. Once a correlated perspective coalesces, consistent rules will allow a sense of confidence among the various stakeholders related to the effectiveness and efficiency with which these activities are undertaken.
