The aim of this case study is to investigate what factors might be linked to PACT's longevity as a charter school program. The study begins with a literature review of alternatives to public education including home school options, alternative learning centers, and charter programming.; Data were collected from the Parents Allied with Children and Teachers (PACT) charter school in Ramsey, Minnesota. The site has been in existence since 1994, and it began the 2004-05 school year transitioning to a newly constructed site, moving from Anoka, MN to Ramsey, MN. The site services grades K- through 12, but the interviews and observations focus primarily on the secondary grades 7-12.; The proposed methodology is a case study involving archival review of documents; interviews and focus groups among teachers, parents and the principal, observations, and the categorizing of gathered data by emergent themes and patterns as they are noted.; The collected data were reviewed and analyzed in an attempt to discover valuable information and insights regarding questions posed within the paper such as: can continuity between a charter school's mission statement and its daily routines enhance longevity, and are the themes expressed in the literature review regarding charter schools substantiated in the data. |
