An exploratory survey of psychologists engaged in private practice

Abstract/Summary:
The intent of this exploratory study was to investigate various components directly related to the application and delivery of psychological services in a private practice setting. This national web-based survey included an examination of the psychologists' independent practices in areas of business marketing, practice environment, practice finances, and related areas. This study utilized a 68-item web-based survey that could be anonymously accessed and completed via the internet. The final sample of clinicians (N = 62) working in independent practice was selected from the memberships of the American Psychological Association's Division 42, Psychologists in Independent Practice, and the California Psychological Association's Division I, Psychologists in Independent Practice. The participants had a mean age of 50.5 years and represented 26 states.
