Abstract/Summary:
This research proposal was designed to examine U.S. transracial foreign adoptions involving Latino children, and how the parents who typically have not had experience from a Latino perspective of life and culture perceive the need for multicultural planning and developing racial awareness, and ultimately incorporate cultural and racial survival skills into their parenting. This research will use a quasi-experimental method for gathering data using a correlation research approach. The research tools utilized for data collection were the Transracial Adoptive Parenting Scale, Family Hardiness Index, and a demographics questionnaire. This data was analyzed to determine if the parents perceived the need for cultural planning, and if they do, how this data could be utilize to incorporate parenting skills for cultural and racial survival.
