The research question explored was: What are the lived experiences of adolescent females in relation to living in a single-parent home? This study describes the phenomenological experiences of African-American and Latina females being raised in a single-parent home. Through multiple means of data collection, the researcher captured detailed descriptions of these experiences from a selective group of African-American and Latina adolescents. Interviews and guided questions provided descriptions of thoughts, feelings, experiences, emotions, and discussions of interpersonal relationships. The researcher identified themes and patterns based on the data retrieved. This data brought forth a better understanding to these young women's experiences and will provide a basis for further study in the field of adolescent and family therapy. |
