| The purpose of this study was to address a high-volume problem for the Delaware Department of Education Office of Professional Accountability (OPA). This problem was addressed by sharing the certification decision with qualified personnel located at each of the four teacher preparation programs located in Delaware at Delaware State University (DSU), University of Delaware (UD), Wesley College (Wesley), and Wilmington University (WU).;This study implemented an extranet to allow OPA's business partners to affect the certification decision by confirming whether or not applicants for Delaware certification have successfully completed all requirements necessary to receive a degree from their respective institutions. Data were collected concerning in how many certification decisions business partners participated, business partner impressions of the project, and OPA staff member impressions of the project. In addition, I surveyed other states to see if they were implementing shared decision-making in any form. |
