Abstract/Summary:
The Small Business Administration asserted that self-employment generally brings about 2 million business entities into being each year, resulting in approximately 1 new firm with employees being established every year for every 300 adults in the United States. However, the problem is that over 85% of such entrepreneurial establishments fail in less than 5 years. A literature review revealed limited research on CPA entrepreneurial practices, but no research was found on the survivability of CPA entrepreneurial practices, making this a baseline study. The purpose of this study was to provide information that may be useful in helping one segment of these business entities, CPA entrepreneurial firms, survive in business. The study was an examination of transformational leadership in relation to the survivability of the CPA entrepreneurial firms. The research questions were designed to determine whether transformational leadership can help to enhance the survivability of CPA entrepreneurial practices as well as attempt to pinpoint what could increase or reduce business failure rates. A survey questionnaire was used to determine whether transformational leadership can help to enhance the survivability of CPA entrepreneurial practices. Through purposive sampling, 100 CPAs were selected for this study and multiple regression analysis was utilized to analyze the data. The research outcome indicated that transformational leadership can help to enhance the survivability of CPA entrepreneurial practices. The significance of this study is that it can potentially contribute to CPA entrepreneurial practices, potential entrepreneurs, and academia, and help in assessing business survival chances while minimizing failure rates.
