Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation consists of an introductory chapter followed by several chapters that treat specific topics. The introduction discusses each of the chapters that follow. The topics considered arc: implementation of nonlocal quantum gates using local operations and classical communication (LOCC) assisted by entanglement (two chapters), quantum error correction codes (two chapters) and information splitting in tripartite quantum systems (one chapter).
