Abstract/Summary:
Biomimetic flavin organocatalysts were designed and synthesized for the purpose of developing green and sustainable methodologies for important oxidative transformations. Three flavin-catalyzed oxidations, Dakin oxidation, Weitz-Scheffer oxidation and heterocycle aromatization, were conducted using molecular oxygen as terminal oxidant. Initial effort towards using chiral ionic liquid as organocatalysts to reduce enal in aqueous solution was demonstrated.
