Abstract/Summary:
Multi-substituted tetrahydropyrans and thiacyclohexanes were synthesized via indium trichloride promoted Prins cyclization with excellent yield and diastereoselectivity. A Prins-Friedel-Crafts cascading reaction was developed to synthesize natural product Epicalyxin F and Calyxin I. Ruthenium catalyzed olefin migration-aldol and Mannich type reaction were also developed in ionic liquid for environmentally friendly C-C bond formation.
