An innovative methodology is presented that performs three-dimensional nonlinear time domain analysis of reinforced concrete bridges subjected to spatially varying seismic ground motion. Bridge pier ductility demands are obtained for bridges with varying geometry and soil conditions, as well as under a strong vertical seismic acceleration component.
