| Vortical structure plays a significant role in flow mechanisms that impact our everyday life. This work is focused on two types of flow that are characterized and dominated by vortical structures. The first part of this work focuses on a particular type of jet known as a synthetic jet. This jet is formed by the time harmonic motion of a vibrating element that encloses a cavity with an orifice. The current work explored the characteristics synthetic jets using circular, slot, and triangular orifices (all having the same equivalent diameters).
