Abstract/Summary:
This study examined contextual issues associated with premarital education programming selection and implementation in Midwestern Roman Catholic Dioceses. Utilizing principles of qualitative research, case study interviewing, purposeful sampling, and grounded theory, this study illustrated factors and characteristics that influence key decision makers in select Roman Catholic Dioceses. Educational background, training, and credentialing were found to be factors the impact decision making processes. Subjects articulated differing concepts and attitudes about the content and purpose of premarital education than those found in family science literature. Implications of these findings and directions for future research are discussed.
