Abstract/Summary:
A one group longitudinal study of students with ADD was used to determine the effectiveness of the Swartz program in relationship to the social skill development and the academic achievement of the students enrolled in the program. Not only did the study look at these factors independently but as to how these two variables are related to each other. Though there is not significant literature to address the relationship between social skills and academic achievement in students with attention deficit disorder, general research on the relationship was found. According to prior research, there seems to be a correlation between social skills and academic achievement.; This research showed not only a significant growth in social skills and academic achievement for those students in the Swartz program, but also resulted in a modest correlation between social skills and academic achievement.
