The purpose of this proposal is to demonstrate how theoretical constructs are utilized in practical ways to ground interventions in theory. This project aims to help the K-12 community to develop theoretically grounded approaches to improve disaster preparedness via practical applications. Initially, a critical analysis of an intervention will demonstrate the epistemic and transformative psychopolitical validity of the intervention. Then, an important aspect of the analysis reveals potential areas to flourish for participants during the final tabletop exercise. Furthermore, the analysis will establish areas for practical applications of theory to improve this and other types of interventions. Consequently, the results will be shared with the project designers of the K-12 disaster preparedness intervention to help provide new data on this subject and suggestions for improvements to the intervention.
