Abstract/Summary:
The oxidation rates of arsenic sulfide (As2S3 (am), AsS (am), orpiment, and realgar) by dissolved oxygen (DO) have been investigated using mixed flow reactors at acid to alkaline pH and DO contents of 6 to 17.4 ppm within the temperature range of 25 to 40°C. The oxidation of arsenic sulfide solids is pH, DO, and temperature dependent. The rate laws can be expressed as follows:; Solids pH DO (ppm) Rate Law at 25°C Act.
