Abstract/Summary:
The purposes of this project are to prove that the most effective method of evangelism today is the method through relationship and to suggest a strategy for relational evangelism. To suggest a strategy for relational evangelism, I understood ministry contexts of the Wilshire Korean Presbyterian Church, that is, the history of the church and its economic and cultural background, and did a survey to verify the need of evangelism through relationship. To understand the biblical viewpoint on relational evangelism, I studied the evangelical methods that Jesus and apostles practiced. As the result of this, I made certain of the fact that the Bible positively supports the evangelical method that emphasizes relationship. Then, to have theological understanding of relational evangelism, I studied the theories and strategies of Aubrey Malphurs, Jerram Barrs, and Oscar Thomson. Studying the strategies of evangelism of Willow Crick Community Church, which has practiced evangelism through relationship successfully, home church model of Houston Seoul Baptist Church, and Alpha Course of Holy Trinity Brompton Church, I established some principles of relational strategies, which are possible to be applied to Wilshire Korean Presbyterian Church. And, based upon all of the material I mentioned above, I suggest four strategic steps for relational evangelism in due consideration of the ministry contexts of Wilshire Korean Presbyterian Church.
